Introduction

The Stonewall Jackson Inn is a very special Harrisonburg Bed and Breakfast. The Inn is a restored mansion (circa 1885) that is unique to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It is a blend of traditional Queen Anne and a Stone and Shingled New England Cottage Style architecture. The Inn looks and feels like an old summer coastal home on the New England coast.

There are ten well appointed guest-rooms, each with private bath, sound insulated with climate control, television and Free "WiFi" Wireless Internet. Overnight lodging includes a full gourmet "Breakfast to Remember" each morning. Our beautiful accommodations, exceptional amenities and knowledgeable staff ensure that The Stonewall Jackson Inn Bed & Breakfast experience will far surpass the experience you have had with hotel lodgings in comfort and service.

The Inn is well located just off Interstate 81 (Exit 247B) near Historic Old Town Harrisonburg, VA,
minutes from James Madison University, and a short drive to many Shenandoah Valley attractions.

At the Stonewall Jackson Inn, dining is designed to satisfy both delicate or hearty appetites. Our Chef utilizes the finest Virginia staples such as Smithfield Ham, locally produced custom produced sausages and apples. You will find one main selection (such as Eggs Nova Scotia, Croissant French Toast, Brie Breakfast Souffle, or Eggs Orleans) as part of the daily gourmet breakfast at our inn. These are served with seasonally fresh fruits, a variety of juices, and fresh perked coffee. A light fare menu is available upon request. Stonewall Jackson Inn has successfully completed the standards set forth by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination. Meet The Innkeepers
Wayne Engel ~ Host / Owner

I am an avid traveler and amateur chef, I like to scuba dive, go hiking, camping, and grow roses. I am Professor Emeritus of Psychology at James Madison University and I am interested in the history of the Civil War, the preservation and restoration of its happenings, and its psychological legacy to our country. I am a storyteller and I read palms. Welcome to my home!

Roger Engel ~ Innkeeper/Chef

I am an ex-sailor and was raised in the Shenandoah Valley. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated and in love with this "Stonewall Country". I am an active board member of the Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia. At your request I will provide information about the adjacent historic Civil War cemetery, local battlefields, interesting historical sites and tourist attractions in the valley.

Our lovely Inn provides exceptional Virginia lodging, in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of historic western Virginia betwixt the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountain ranges. A stay at the Stonewall Jackson Inn will provide you with a wonderful alternative to conventional hotel or motel accommodations. After a peaceful night's sleep in an antique bed and a hearty breakfast in the morning, you'll be ready to enjoy the local sites and attractions.

We're centrally located amid the Skyline Drive, Civil War Battlefields, and both James Madison and Eastern Mennonite Universities. Massanutten and Bryce Ski Resorts are an easy, scenic drive from our bed and breakfast. The Shenandoah Valley is among the top tourist destinations in the east because of its natural beauty, recreational facilities, historic sites and aesthetic orientation.
