Introduction
Simpsons Hollow Bed & Breakfast is situated on a beautiful mountainside in Nelson County, at the end of a state road, minutes from Route 29. The octagonal house is set on bedrock in the stream surrounded by 100 acres of forest, hiking trails, and wildlife. Simpsons Hollow Bed & Breakfast is located between Charlottesville and Lynchburg. We are surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Skyline Drive, Wintergreen, Crab Tree Falls, Monticello, and several Civil War sites.
When you stay at Simpsons Hollow, you get not just a room but the entire house to yourself. It is a three-bedroom, one-bath house anchored by a four-foot thick stone center column that starts in the basement and ends in the attic. The bedrooms and the bathroom are located on the second floor, and each bedroom has a queen size bed and two windows. Two bedrooms overlook the waterfall, and the master bedroom has satellite TV.
The living room and the kitchen are on the first floor. Since the house is octagonal, each wall has a window which allows you to feel very close to the natural setting which surrounds you. While the living room and the kitchen have their own woodstoves, baseboard heaters can heat the entire house if needed. The living room also features satellite TV. Outside the house, you have a brick patio next to the waterfall and your own swimming hole.
Breakfast is casual and private and consists of buttermilk pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and/or sausage, toast, fruit cups, orange juice, coffee and/or tea. The Innkeepers light the fires, put on the coffee, prepare breakfast, and set the table. When guests come down the stairs at 8:00 am, breakfast is served in the kitchen. It is your kitchen, because only your party is staying at the house. Breakfast can be eaten anywhere you like. You may choose to sit in the kitchen at the oak roundtable and look out the window at the waterfall, or weather permitting, you may eat on the patio by the waterfall.
The hiking trails from the waterfall to the mountain top are for you only, and the views at the top are sensational. Our check-out time is 1:00 pm, because we encourage you to explore our 100-acre woods with its many hiking trails and scenic views. The views at the top are worth the effort. The hollow is enclosed and very private. Our sanctuary is our own wrinkle on the mountain. The beauty, the wildlife, and the solitude are yours to enjoy.
