Sea Gate Bed and Breakfast - Cape Charles, Virginia ... on Chesapeake Bay, this town of seven square blocks fell asleep 40 years ago when the ferry was relocated but is now reawakening.

Streets of eclectic Victorian homes, shaded by long blooming crape myrtle trees, are perfect for strolling or biking. Walk three houses west from Sea Gate and you will be at the town beach, ready for swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing.

My comfortably elegant 1912 Georgian Revival home has 4 bedrooms, all with ceiling fans, air conditioning, clock radios and cable televisions. The fresh air and quiet of Cape Charles foster a sound night's sleep.

Next morning, choose the time (between 8 and 10 a.m.) of your full country breakfast - sage sausage, French toast and fresh fruit salad (just one menu) -- served at individual tables on the enclosed breakfast porch.

Then relax in a rocking chair on the front porch and let the hummingbirds, cardinals and blue jays entertain you. Explore our historic town or use our beach chairs to sun and swim at our beach.

You can golf at our Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses, play tennis, fish from the pier, shop for local arts and crafts, go antiquing, and savor local seafood at a wide variety of area restaurants. Spectacular bay sunsets are a vivid close to the day.

Summer festivals, harbor parties, fall birding and harvest festivals, and a Victorian Christmas community progressive dinner are just some of the special events available in the Cape Charles area.

Other attractions are the town's marina and deepwater harbor, Bay Creek Marina, Eyre Hall Gardens, Kiptopeake State Park, National Wildlife Refuge, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge -Tunnel to Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, and a Ferry Excursion to Tangier Island.
