| Introduction |

The High Street Inn is a beautiful Queen Anne mansion built circa 1891 by
J. A. Gill, a wealthy influential merchant. The mansion is constructed of
a natural fired brick that is no longer AVAILABLE. The mansion has been
utilized as a residence, a funeral home, and a veterans of foreign wars
outpost. It has been operated as a B&B or Inn since the late 1980's and is
located in Historic Old Towne Petersburg. The Appomattox river walk, restaurants, antique shops, and the village's farmers market, open spring and summer, are just a short walk away. The Inn is within close proximity to Civil War sites, museums, and theaters and is renowned for its cornucopia of historic architecture. |

Guest rooms available at this time include the Sycamore Suite,
BollingBrook, and the Appomattox, Mahone Chamberlin & The Washington
Suite. All rooms are individually decorated with private baths, king or
queen beds, sitting areas, air-conditioning, and cable TV. The fireplaces
are for decor only. The Blandford, a large bedroom under the mansion's
turret, will be available soon. All of the rooms are named after streets,
roads, or historic locations/people that had a major influence in the
beginnings of the city of Petersburg. A full breakfast is served seven days a week. We are more than happy to accommodate those who prefer a continental style or have special dietary needs. Please indicate your requirements during the reservation process. |

The High Street Inn was purchased by Innkeepers Tina and Eddie in November 2004. They set about repairing many years of neglect and renovating the third floor into a three-bedroom apartment for them and their children, Willow and Reed. The first floor was the next challenge changing the decor of the day room, dining room, foyer and men's parlor, which are now open for your pleasure. The Inn features nine fireplaces that are individually decorated with ceramic tiles as is the main porch. |
