Introduction

Your breathing slows - your shoulders relax - you immediately sense the serenity of your surroundings. You have arrived at Nottingham Ridge Bed & Breakfast. Reflecting the beauty and the charm of Virginia's historic Eastern Shore, this lovely home boasts a private, secluded beach on the Chesapeake Bay.

Nottingham Ridge is built on one of the oldest deeded properties in Northampton County. Two miles off the main road on 100 acres of family owned property the house sits among tall trees and farm land to the east and the sandy dunes of the Chesapeake Bay to the west. Tastefully decorated rooms filled with antiques, reproductions, collectibles, and the warmth of Southern Hospitality are reminiscent of the Williamsburg tradition.

Guests can hardly wait to kick off their shoes and walk through the dunes along a flora and fauna lined path leading to beautiful white sand on a wind swept beach - void of people except for guests and family. The clean, clear water and sandy bottom are reason enough for all ages to jump right in and enjoy their surroundings. A little piece of heaven waiting for you arrival.

Our beach is a great spot for swimming, crabbing, beach combing and relaxing. Runners and bikers will love the long stretches of safe, flat, paved roads. Located in the Eastern Flyway, Nottingham Ridge is a birdwatcher's paradise. Bald eagles, blue herons, pelicans, shore birds and falcons are a few of the resident species.

Private Secluded Beach

Weather permitting, guests gather on the screened porch or on the patio to start their day with a glass of juice or a cup of fresh brewed coffee or tea. While hummingbirds feed and boats scurry along the bay folks have an opportunity to get acquainted. Breakfast is served between 6 and 9 a.m. (schedules accommodated). The main course changes daily and may consist of fresh fruit, juice, various egg dishes, French toast, waffles, homemade bread and muffins, bacon, sausage, and sweet potato and ham biscuits. Cooler times the dining room offers the same amenities. Visitors to Nottingham Ridge can look forward to an informal, relaxed atmosphere with emphasis on the small details that create a memorable stay.
