Introduction
A charming country manor house built in the mid-1800's, the Inn at
Monticello sits cradled in the valley at the foot of Thomas
Jefferson’s own Monticello Mountain. We look out across the sweep of manicured lawn
toward the beauty of the mountains, and listen to the peaceful sounds of
birds and our own babbling brook.
We have been honored to receive several forms of recognition most recently.
We are exceptionally proud of those awards given by the traveling public:
2005 LIFE Magizine- Best New Place to Drink Wine
2005 Best Inn Near a College or University
2004 Top 10 Best Inns in the U.S.
2003 Best Antiques and History
Each of our five rooms is decorated with a variety of fine fabrics, down comforters and pillows, antiques and other period pieces. Built in 1856, the inn maintains it's historic integrity with hard wood floors and oriental rugs add to the feeling of luxury in each guest room. All rooms have soft easy chairs, or love seats, appropriate reading light, and access to a wealth of information regarding the area. The host has written a series of trips which can be taken from the inn, along with the necessary directions, and or maps. Guest comfort is enhanced by a CD library along with an individual radio/cd player in all rooms. Each of our rooms has a private full bath, and some have real working wood burning fireplaces, a canopy bed, or a private porch.
Our guests find the Inn at Monticello a quiet place to relax and enjoy a
day or two away from their fast paced lives. In the winter the fireplaces
offer soothing places to read a book, relax with tea or coffee, or just
unwind. The summer finds most guests on the porch, relaxed in a rocking
chair enjoying a cool drink while rocking away the cares of the day. Enjoy
a taste of a featured Virginia wine as you peruse the collection of menus
from the many outstanding restaurants in the Charlottesville area. Each
morning guests enjoy a full gourmet breakfast with a wide variety of
specialty menus.
