Situated on a secluded creek of the Chesapeake Bay in charming Mathews County, Virginia, the Inn has over 800 ft. of waterfront and 8 acres of wooded and open space. The main Inn is an 1820's newly renovated farmhouse with a separate cottage housing the luxury suites just across the garden and pool. It is just the place if you appreciate the natural splendor of the outdoors and want the luxury and comfort of a casual B&B. Embark on a kayak adventure from our private dock, spend the day cycling the endless level Mathews country roads, charter a sailboat, fishing, or motorboat tour, or go birding on Bethel Beach and Haven Beach Nature Preserves. |

Of course, you can just spend the day right here at the Inn: rock on the porch, walk the grounds, enjoy a game of Bocce or croquet, fish or crab off the dock, or take a dip in the pool. At the end of the day, enjoy a refreshing drink while taking in a beautiful sunset over the water. You can even visit us by boat! Our private dock can accommodate most small craft that do not draw more than 2', and there is no additional charge for tie up if you have a reservation with us. We also have a boat ramp, so you can tow yours up and launch. Whatever your pleasure, we believe you will leave The Inn at Tabbs Creek feeling refreshed, relaxed, revitalized and longing to come back! Enjoy a peaceful nights rest on our comfortable beds. | Breakfast often includes locally grown fare, with a wide variety of options which varies between an assortment of muffins, waffles, quiche, breakfast casserole, specialty baked eggs, sausage, bacon, cheese grits, hashbrowns, yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. Relax on our dock, deck or screened-in porch and enjoy beautiful sunsets! Chill out on a couch and read a book in our library, or play a board game in our lounge. Enjoy sunbathing or a dip in our pool! We also have a canoe for our guests to use, as well as lawn games such as bocce, horseshoes, and croquet. We offer a Wine and Cheese get together on Saturday late afternoon, but can also make special arrangements for a get together during the week as well. Enjoy some of the local restaurants for lunch and dinner. Southwinds Café and the Donks theatre often offer a variety of live music during the weekends, while the White Dog Inn offers an outdoor bar and patio. Ask us about special rates for extended stays, or booking the Inn for a special occasion! |

The Inn at Tabbs Creek at Port Haywood in Mathews County Virginia is owned and operated by Greg and Lori Dusenberry. Inspired by passions for the environment, organic gardening and farming, sustainable living and green building practices, our hope is to provide our guests with a relaxing experience and share our love of nature. Both Greg and Lori graduated from St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, NC with BA degrees in Philosophy. Greg has spent several years working and managing organic farms in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and then several more years as a chef in various restaurants in and around the Chapel Hill, NC area before becoming a buyer for Whole Foods, Inc. |

Lori has been a Merchandising Manager, Small Business Owner, and has spent the past 10 years in the Horticultural Industry as a certified Plant Professional. After visiting Lori's parents here over the last 20 years or so, we decided to move to Mathews County in appreciation of its natural beauty, small town charm, concern for the environment and preservation, and commitment to controlled growth and development. We also decided to pursue our dream of running an eco-friendly Inn with a large garden for growing our own food. In October 2008, we purchased the Inn at Tabbs Creek, which had been operated off and on as a B&B, and decided to undergo some major renovations to get the property fully up and running while adding our own personal style to every room.
