Alleghany
A spacious, sunny room, the Alleghany is the second floor of
the original 1780 post-and-beam house, with views out the front and side
of the house. Alleghany features a queen-size pencil post bed with fishnet
canopy, comfortable armchairs, a loveseat that can convert into a twin
bed, and an electric stove in the fireplace. The spacious bathroom
includes a large whirlpool/shower combination, with oak and brass
appointments.
Franklin
Generously proportioned, Franklin features a queen-size rice-carved four poster bed, a bi-level mahogany Empire chest with shaving mirror, and comfortable seating for two. A gas-log stove lends a cheery glow and warmth on cool nights. A 150 year-old boxwood and the old livery stable are visible from the back window. Around the corner, a door affords access to the wrap-around verandah. A comfortable modern bathroom with a large whirlpool/shower combination is entered via a unique pass-through closet arrangement.
Teter-Wood
Named for the family who expanded the Inn to its current size in 1853, the Teter-Wood room is on the first floor and was formerly the library. Gracious in proportions, it features a queen-size cherry pencil post bed, and a new bathroom with a ceramic tile shower. The little electric stove in the fireplace adds romantic ambiance and warmth on cool evenings. This room may be entered from a private doorway on the side of the house. A private outside seating area adjoins.
Eleanor
This graciously-sized room offers an ornate king-sized iron bed,
ample seating, an electric stove in the fireplace, and an over-sized
double shower for two in the diminutive modern bathroom. The rich
draperies and muted wallpaper lends an air of romance to this comfortable
room where Eleanor Roosevelt stayed during her visit to Goshen in 1935.
Robinson
Named for the couple who brought the inn back to life, this light-filled room has lovely views of the gardens. Set farther back than the other rooms from the front of the house, the Robinson offers separate access to the second floor veranda. The bedroom features a queen-size iron bed, comfortable wing chair and chaise lounge for reading, a cozy Victorian stove, and an antique oak washstand. The private hallway leads to a new well-appointed bathroom with a roomy stall shower and brass and oak furnishings. The soft murmuring of Mill Creek through open windows will lull you to sleep.
