The historic village of Washington is still the same 2 x 5 grid as surveyed by 17-year-old George Washington in 1749 and boasts to be "the first Washington of them all." The town proudly serves as the Rappahannock County Seat, the least developed, least populated and - we think - the most beautiful of all Virginia counties east of the Blue Ridge.

Area Attractions:

No matter what your desire - relaxation or recreation - Washington and the surrounding area have much to offer.

Take a leisurely stroll through the village or simply relax in a front porch rocker with a cool drink and enjoy the slow pace of village life. Retreat to the Guest Clubhouse deck with a glass of complimentary wine and enjoy beautiful views of the Blue Ridge mountains. Or, enjoy a picnic lunch from Rae's Place or Griffin Tavern in the summer garden.

If it's cold outside, our parlor is the perfect place to curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and a glass of complimentary port. Escape with a therapeutic massage in the privacy of your room or enjoy a live show at The Theatre.

If shopping is your desire, the town offers an array of fine gift shops, art galleries and workshops of some of the region's finest craftsmen including: r.h.ballard, Chris's Shop of Designs in Gold & Silver, Custom Jewelry by Edmund, The Shops at THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON, Middle Street Gallery, Peter Kramer Furniture and the Packing Shed Gallery.

The area offers a vast array of activities from hiking in Shenandoah National Park to canoeing and kayaking. Afterwards, enjoy the tours and tastings of nearby award-winning wineries such as Linden Vineyards, Rappahannock Cellars and Oasis Winery.
