Gordonsville is located in the heart of historic central Virginia. It is approximately 18 miles northeast of Charlottesville and 93 miles southwest of our nation's capital. If you happen to stay at a Gordonsville bed and breakfast during February, you'll be able to catch the Horton Vineyards Mardi Gras and Gumbo Celebration where you can participate in traditional Mardi Gras games. For family fun, visit Verling Park and Dix Memorial Pool. The facilities include a tennis court, a playground, and a pavilion. For those history buffs, staying at a Gordonsville B&B or Gordonsville inn will be a treat! Enjoy an informative trip to the Exchange Hotel and Civil War Museum on Main Street to learn about Gordonsville's role in the Civil War. During the summer of 1862, Major General Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson stayed for a few days at the old Gordon Tavern and attended the Presbyterian Church which still stands on Main Street. Nearby are the battlefields of Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, and Trevilians. The Cooke Park on Main Street is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the calm surroundings and is in the heart of the shops and galleries of Gordonsville. For good eats, the Toliver House has an American style with a special twist to its appetizers. Pomme at 115 B, South Main Street offers lovely and delicious french cuisine.
