This is guaranteed to create a unique experience for your getaway. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, our closeness to the Blue Ridge Parkway and World's Capital of Old Time Music extends upon the aura that is found within our doors. One visit at the inn and you come to appreciate the "Elegant Simplicity Prescribed by the Doctor."

The Doctor's Inn is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is 82 miles southwest of Roanoke, 68 miles northwest of Winston Salem, NC, and only 7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Felts Park, which is home to the Old Fiddlers Convention and the historic Rex Theatre, are within walking distance. Explore the quaint antique shops and grab a bite to eat at one of the local eateries. Return to The Doctor's Inn to enjoy relaxing on the wide front porch bounded by latticed Wisteria on one end and native Clematis on the other.

The Dr. Virgil and Gladys Cox House was built around 1913 and still maintains many of its original features. Historic wallpaper exists in the entry hall and dining room. The boxwood garden displays a c. 1920 sundial and a c. 1940 brick wall. Floors throughout the lower level are oak, laid on the diagonal; while floors upstairs are oak, maple (probably a replacement) and tongue and groove pine. This home underwent extensive renovations in 2002 and is listed on the Virginia Landmark Register and the National Register of Historic Places.

The City of Galax is a trail-head for the New River Trail: a 57 mile linear "Rails to Trails" recreational path ideal for horseback riding, hiking, and bicycling. The scenic New River, one of the oldest in the world, flows nearby. Canoeing, tubing, kayaking and fishing are popular pastimes. Galax is also the gateway to Mt. Rogers National Recreational Area. Numerous golf courses are located throughout the area.
