Buena Vista is situated on the Maury River. The main part of the city is on the east bank and the lovely Glen Maury Park is on the west bank. In December, the town has its annual Holiday Lights celebration at Glen Maury Park. Come enjoy holiday festivities, decorated horses and Old Saint Nick. Buena Vista is also surrounded by portions of the Jefferson and George Washington National Forest, which offer numerous outdoor recreational opportunities. Canoing on the James and Maury Rivers is extremely popular, and there is camping in the 315-acre Glen Maury Park (which is owned and operated by the city). La Buena Vista Family Restaurant Soft Serve is frequented for its hamburgers and Mexican foods, while Captain Tim's Galley is a favorite for its seafood. The best recommendation for a Buena Vista inn or Buena Vista bed and breakfast is to stay in one of the nearby towns, where you will find an assortment of hotels and Buena Vista B&B’s to fit any budget.
