Built in 1842, Brightly is a charming Greek Revival home surrounded by nine dependencies in the style of a working farm of this era. In the heart of Goochland County, we are convenient to your friends, relatives, and activities. Brightly is surrounded by beautiful gardens and fields. For early risers a walk on the farm is a wonderful way to start the day. You can stop and sit by one of the two ponds. You might catch sight of a great blue heron, deer grazing by the water's edge, or our resident flock of wild turkeys. We are located between Richmond and Charlottesville, just off Interstate 64, making day trips to historic sites and museums in both areas an easy addition to your itinerary. Visit the city but stay in the country! |

There are two well-appointed guest rooms, each with queen bed, private bath, cable television and VCR. Wireless internet access available. Rooms are located in a detached guest house providing privacy, yet an opportunity to enjoy our historic property. Breakfast arrangements are made upon your arrival. Rates: $95- $120 |
Work out in the exercise room, take a sauna, or schedule a relaxing massage with a certified massage therapist. You may want to just relax in a hammock, read on the porch swing under the windmill, or play croquet on the lawn. A guest refrigerator and microwave are provided for your convenience.
During the summer and early fall, you might want to consider a day canoeing on the James River. A local livery can schedule a trip for you. Several public golf courses are nearby and there are a number of restaurants available for evening dining - from a four-star, elegant inn to a family-style tavern. The Goochland Historical Society is within walking distance.
With prior arrangement, accommodations can be made for you and your horse. There are riding trails in a nearby State Forest and fox-hunters might enjoy a day out with the Deep Run Hunt. Although we do not offer horseback riding on our farm, there is an active riding community in the area and you might enjoy going to watch a local show.
