Set high on a hill above the scenic Buffalo Creek amid 36 acres with wonderful mountain vistas, Applewood Inn offers casual accommodations in a truly private and romantically beautiful setting. The passive solar home is furnished with antiques, quilts and original artwork, and the massive enclosed porches offer guests a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the dramatic views of the llama pastures, woods and mountains.

Minutes away, Historic Downtown Lexington is very walkable, or one may take a carriage ride to see the sights. Washington and Lee University with its Lenfest Performing Arts Center and the Lee Chapel, and the Virginia Military Institute are all downtown. Also there are the Stonewall Jackson House, the George C. Marshall Museum and the Lexington Visitor Center.

This unique Inn is built into the side of the hill and consists of three levels, with the ground floor and second level each having two queen bedded guest rooms all with private baths. One of the ground floor rooms, the Quilter's Room, has a double jacuzzi and gas log fireplace. Also on this level is a wonderful cedar spa/hot tub room which opens through French doors onto a patio. The two bedrooms on the second level each open onto the main porch and may use the porch entrance. Also on this level are the common area with fireplace, library and TV/VCR, the dining room, main kitchen, guest pantry, and off the east end a lovely full-sized in ground pool and patio.

As a guest approaches the Inn along the winding Buffalo Creek, leaving it to follow a stream up the hill, the outside world is left behind. Here Linda and Chris Best, innkeepers for nearly 20 years, have created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where one and all may enjoy "a little piece of heaven."
