Escalante, located in the southern part of Utah, has numerous B&B establishments that will afford you a place to stay while you enjoy the sights and sounds. Escalante is particularly known for its springs, its colorful and twisted rock formations, and its Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument that features gorgeous canyons and waterfalls. Among the town’s annual events are the following: the Escalante Heritage Festival and Craft Fair in May; the Boulder Heritage Festival in July; the Escalante Pioneer Days Celebration, also in July; and the Escalante Canyons Working Arts Festival in September. Escalante is a great place to hike, bike, camp, fish, ride horses, wade in the waters and take stunning snapshots. In the center of town, you might want to pick up a tour map at the visitor center and take the town’s walking tour past its historic homes. Escalante also has a number of galleries and shops that feature the works of area artists, including painters, potters, and sculptors. Boulder Mesa in neighboring Boulder is the place to go for the freshest, home-made soups, salads, and pies. Hell's Backbone Grill (also in Boulder) was named Best Restaurant in Southern Utah for 2007, and it serves locally-grown meat, and organic produce from its very own farm. While you’re in Escalante, be sure to stay at an Escalante bed and breakfast or an Escalante inn. You won’t regret it!
