Built in 1994, innkeepers Jean and Michael Langer opened the inn on April 1st, 1995. The inn is located in a quiet country setting on their 340 acre farm in Spring Green, Wisconsin. This sophisticated yet rustic Log Inn offers 10 guest rooms with private baths, a large double sided fieldstone fireplace dividing the dining room and sitting room, a private special events room, and a wrap around porch/deck for added dining and lounging pleasure. There are also trails and beautiful scenic locations on the land.
The "silver" in the name Silver Star represents silver halide - the chemical compound of silver with a halogen (for example, silver iodide, silver bromide or silver chloride). These compounds are responsible for recording a visual image on a photographic emulsion as a result of exposure to light.
The Silver Star B&B Inn can be described as elegant but casual and is without a doubt interesting and out of the ordinary. Located on a bucolic 340 acre estate, it is perfect for a quiet getaway, intimate wedding, reunions, retreats, or to simply connect with the great outdoors.
Fine art and photography are exhibited throughout and eclectic interiors artfully blend antique, vintage, and contemporary furnishings resulting in an unusually interesting and wonderfully comfortable casual environment.
This area of southwestern Wisconsin somehow escaped the great "Ice Age" (called the Wisconsin glaciations). It also mysteriously escaped the previous ice age (the Illinoisan). Nowhere else that we know of on the planet has any such ice-surrounded "island" occurred during any of the Ice Ages. Today we call it the drift less area --unique in the entire world. Take a stroll, hike the trails, deep breathe our fresh air, lots of birds to watch and listen to, gaze at the stars, hunt for morel mushrooms, spy the deer and wild turkey, and undoubtedly, the Silver Star estate, is the perfect place to get in touch with your spirit and nature.
