Dorothy's RoomNamed for Rita's mother, this room with eastern exposure heralds the morning sun and overlooks the grounds of Port Washington Inn in summer. There is a limited view of Lake Michigan until leaves are off the trees in late fall. The lofty rice carved four poster queen bed and other furnishings in dark cherry are highlighted by the richness of floral carpet, sumptuous fabrics, and burled wood blinds opening up the room's vista. Read or watch a movie from the bed or from the elegantly comfortable new leather chairs; catch up on letter writing or business priorities at the desk illuminated by a triple arm antique fixture. Will you feel like royalty in this room? We think so! Tub/shower combination in the attached private bath. $159/night
Noelle's Room
A room of periwinkle and white with accents of rose, Noelle's Room showcases dark oak furnishings including an antique sleigh bed (queen sized), dressers, and bedside tables. Named for our daughter, this room reminds her of a small country inn she visited in the south of France... a room of blue sky, puffy white clouds, and roses! You'll love the newly renovated attached private bath, the comfortable chairs, and the good reading lights. The coziest of Port Washington Inn's guestrooms, this room has happily provided guests with affordable week long accommodations many a time. $139/night
Helen's Room
Named for a dear friend, this room is a haven of warm walnut, linen, and soft teal. The queen sized walnut bed, bedside tables, hall tree, and luggage rack lovingly made in Dave's workshop replicate antique designs. A vintage 1890's antique walnut armoire sits opposite the bed and houses the TV/VCR and an electric fireplace stove offering ambience, heat, or both. Comfortable wingback chairs are perfect for reading or use the multiple pillows and enjoy a good book or a movie from the comfort of the bed. Polished to sophistication with period sconces, a new ceiling fan, and a beautifully renovated private bath, we think you'll agree this room has been elevated to new heights! Private bath. $159/night
Top of the World Suite
A serene suite decorated in sage green, Irish cream, and touches of aubergine... where everything speaks of quiet elegance and comfort... where you can enjoy the sunrise over Lake Michigan at daybreak and the sunset over Port Washington at day's end. An antique gentleman's dresser sets the stage for its matching queen bed in warm cherry set against a wall of west windows dressed in toile curtains. Comfortable leather swivel recliners beg you to put your feet up and enjoy a good read with soft music of your choosing in the background. Relax into the comfort of the spacious sitting room where two divinely designed divans cozy up to the fireplace and the TV/VCR/DVD. More in the mood for pondering the temperament of Lake Michigan? Two beautifully comforting chairs reside in the lakeside dormer to encourage pondering the lake at length. Need to spend a little time online with your laptop? Take advantage of the desk in the south dormer to set up your computer utilizing our wireless internet access.
Want to enjoy a cup of your favorite tea or some xocolata? The beverage center, private to your suite, will accommodate with teas, lemonade, xocolata, cappuccino mixes ready when you are. Brought your favorite wine or champagne? We provide the wine glasses and champagne flutes, and ambience to spare! Windows throughout the Top of the World Suite are capable of full view, veiled view through the Hunter Douglas mesh shades, or complete privacy by drawing the toile curtains in the bedroom or the linen shades in the sitting room. Lighting can be adjusted for ambience, reading, or movie watching.
Did we mention that this suite is climate controlled with central AC to keep its cool during those hot summer days? When temperatures dip into the chilly zone, a gas fireplace and electric baseboard heat keep you toasty. One more thing; those two divinely designed divans make two divine twin beds or one divine king bed when topped with the Tempurpedic mattress overlays. That would be in case there are three or four of you traveling together who would like to share this suite. Not to worry-there's a second bathroom! $179/night (occupancy 2 people); ($75/night additional person charge)
Grace's Suite
This graceful getaway named for Dave's mother was redecorated and enhanced in 2007! With an eye to endowing this room with greater serenity, elegance, and comfort, Grace's Suite now surrounds you with a subtle and sophisticated color palette which takes its inspiration from the wool area rugs that accent each room of the suite. A handmade walnut cabinet made in Dave's workshop houses a large electric fireplace and new TV/VCR/DVD. Comfy upholstered chairs flank a walnut dropleaf side table capable of expanding to accommodate a laptop computer (or two) or a game of Super Scrabble. Classy bedside tables, also custom made in the workshop, offer ample space and good reading lights for those who enjoy reading in bed.
Grace's Suite has a view of the art deco lighthouse in the harbor four blocks down Washington Street. Enjoy this view from the expansive private balcony furnished with table and four cushioned chairs. The balcony is protected from north and westerly winds, misty rain, even mosquitoes (they don't venture that high). It's just you and the view! Windows facing east, south and west bring exquisite light into this room throughout the day. Window treatments are designed to offer the ultimate in light control, from enjoying the view to darkening the room for sleeping in past dawn on a sunny day!
A roman shade has been added to the window of the balcony door as well allowing movie watching in full daylight without any glare. Once upon a time, an occasional damsel found herself locked out on the balcony without the key. Although neighbors were heroic about rescuing a "damsel in distress", the innkeepers deemed it an improvement to change the lock on the balcony door. Nary a damsel shall require rescuing again! Private attached bath; queen size bed. $179/night
