Many travelers stay at Hillbrook Inn to escape the hustle and bustle of Washington DC. We are also conveniently located near historic attractions like Harpers Ferry and Antietam Battlefield.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?
We are best known for our comfortable and cozy guest suites, exquisite dinner service, luxurious spa, and expansive grounds, which were once owned by George Washington.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?
Hillbrook Inn is located near historic attractions like Harpers Ferry and Antietam Battlefield. Since we are close to the Northern Virginia Wine Trail, we offer chauffeured wine tours to several local wineries. There are also a variety of close-by hiking locations on the Appalachian Trail, in addition to outdoor activities that can be enjoyed along the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?
Our favorite local restaurant is Dish in downtown Charles Town. Many guests also enjoy eating at restaurants in Shepherdstown, WV.

Our unique fine dining experience offers guests award winning meals created with passion! Imagine indulging in a romantic dinner in our elegant and sophisticated dining room at our Charles Town WV restaurant. Let the warmth of a fire and the flicker of candles set the ambiance to create a meal both exquisite to the palate and memorable to the heart. Our culinary team uses only the freshest ingredients and purchases locally to create daily pre-fixe menus that accommodate the dietary needs of our guests.
Hillbrook Inn offers daily dinner service to the public as well as Inn guests. Advance reservations are required.
The five course dinner is served at 7pm Monday through Thursday. On Friday-Sunday, a three course meal is served at 6pm, and the five course meal is served at 8pm. Our menu is determined by the market availability as well as dietary needs, restrictions and dislikes of our dining guests. There will be no menu presented at dinner; instead every course is a pleasant surprise designed by our expert culinary team. Please do not hesitate to tell us your dietary preferences because you will be pleasantly surprised with her ability to adapt a menu for the dietary needs of all our guests, including the needs of a diabetic or a vegetarian guest.
Reservation Required. Five-Course Dinner $69.50 per person plus tax and gratuity. Three-Course Dinner $49.50 per person plus tax and gratuity.
Enjoy Charles Town dining at its best! Our lavish Inn provides a delicious two-course gourmet breakfast included with your room stay. Breakfast is served each morning at 8:30 and 9:45am.
During your visit you can enjoy one of your favorite cocktails by the bar, sit in front of the fire and accompanying flat screen TV, or take pleasure in sitting on the sunny front terrace. Many guests enjoy playing on the baby grand piano or listening to the fountain on the front terrace during their visit.
You do not have to be a guest of Hillbrook Inn to join us for a cocktail. You are welcome to stop by the Tavern for a drink and a tour of the inn.

Hillbrook can accommodate up to 50 guests inside the Main House & up to 150 guests utilizing the grounds. We have designed and created some exceptional packages, but are also very happy to design an event specifically to your needs and wants.

Washington's Land • The "Bullskin" or Rock Hall. Was first owned by George Washington. Part of a 550-acre tract of land along the Bullskin stream. At age 18, Washington signed a deed of purchase for a tract of well water near the Bullskin Creek from then owner Robert Rutherford. He soon named his land “my Bullskin Plantation.”

How To Find Us
Hillbrook is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, resting in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a physiographic province of the larger Appalachian Mountains range. One hour from D.C., the property was originally surveyed and owned by George Washington.
During the summer, it stays light until almost 9:00 PM at our historic Bed and Breakfast near Harpers Ferry. During winter, it gets dark at about 4:30 or 5:00 PM. This can be useful when planning your trip to our romantic getaway in West Virginia.

From Washington, DC
Take Route 495 (Beltway) to Route 270 North to Frederick, MD. Take 70 West to Route 340 West past Harpers Ferry to Charles Town, WV. Stay straight onto Route 51 West through the stoplights in Charles Town to the three-way stop sign as you exit the commercial district. At the stop sign, bear left onto Route 13, Summit Point Road. The inn is five miles ahead on the left just past South Jefferson Elementary School.
From Baltimore, MD
Take Route 70 West to Route 340 West past Harpers Ferry to Charles Town, WV. Stay straight onto Route 51 West through the stoplights in Charles Town to the three-way stop sign as you exit the commercial district. At the stop sign bear left onto Route 13, Summit Point Road. The inn is five miles ahead on the left just past South Jefferson Elementary School.
From Northern Virginia
Take 7 West to the exit for Route 340 North, marked for Charles Town, WV. Follow 340 North about ¾ of a mile to Route 611 (Summit Point Rd.) and make a left. Take 611 about 5.5 miles to the first stop sign which is Route 13 (Summit Point Rd. as well). Go right at the stop sign for one mile; the inn will be on your right.
From Dulles Airport
Take the Greenway to Route 7 West and follow the directions immediately above.
From Route 81 South
Take Route 51 East through Inwood 5.5 miles to Leetown Road. Turn right on Leetown Road, and drive for 6.3 miles to the first stop sign (Route 13, Summit Point Road). Go left for one mile, the inn will be on your right.
From Route 81 North
Take Route 7 East to the Route 340 exit. Take 340 North toward Charles Town ¾ of a mile to Route 611, and then make a left turn. Stay on Route 611 until you reach the first stop sign, which will be in 5.5 miles (Route 13, Summit Point Road). Go right for one mile, the inn will be on your right.
