Introduction

"When I first opened the Dian-Lee House in 1995, I did so with the commitment of making every guest feel at home during their stay.
"Every possible attention to detail has been made. From Victorian-style furnishings to Austrian crystal chandeliers and a wrap-around verandah. Today, that commitment still exists.
"Every guest enters to the type of hospitality that once existed in the boarding houses of yesterday. Visit Dian-Lee House today and experience the quality of years of heritage."
-Sandra Hancock
For several years I drove past 2109 Jefferson Street admiring it and wishing it were mine. The stately facade embodies the style and grace prominent Bluefield families built in the late 1800s when this home was set apart on an expansive lawn from most of the current neighbors. The Compton family built the home and ownership passed through such prominent families as the Maynards, then finally to Mrs. Helen Ryan.
When Mrs. Ryan put the house on the market in April 1995, I was able to purchase it and bring it back from the later years of use as a multiple apartment dwelling and boarding house. It then began to take on a new version of it's former elegance as I sought to embellish the property.
Remnants of life-past are obvious when one sees the wall and floor buttons for calling servants, some of whom lived in the back cottage and helped in the upkeep of a total of 27 rooms. They served meals in the large dining room, filled the oversized tubs, which I've restored, or polished the wavy glass panes on the massive French doors and kept the gas lights twinkling.
The history of the Dian-Lee is still very alive today. You will feel the years of heritage upon your first step through the front door. Contact us to return to the wonders of yesteryear.
All of the Dian-Lee has been carefully designed with attention to detail...
From the moment you step through the door, you are transported back to a time when life was more simple. -
