When you stay in one of our Vacation Cottages instead of a motel, a family of four will save
$200 per DAY by not eating breakfast, lunch & dinner in a restaurant. Plus, if you're coming from
the Seattle area, you'll drive LESS than 50 miles from the Kingston ferry dock to get here and so many
great activities here on the Olympic Peninsula or in the Olympic National Park are absolutely FREE!

Unlike some vacation rentals that simply hand you a key, we provide concierge services to book day trips
and dinner reservations, on-site security, plus tips on everything from finding
the best tidepool beaches to how to roast fresh salmon on the gas grill.

The Guest House At The Lodge

The Guest House is a completely detached cottage on the main Lodge property. If you're traveling with an infant or young children, it provides both B&B pampering and much needed privacy (the baby can be fussy all night and not disturb other guests). Of course, if you're traveling as a couple, it's the perfect hideaway for two. There's even your own private Sundance hydrotherapy spa under the stars! The Guest House features high ceilings, a great room with fireplace and piano, dining area, full bath with vaulted ceiling & skylight, and two separate bedrooms (one with a 4-poster King bed & French doors to the covered sun porch; the other with twin beds). The kitchen has beautiful custom cherry cabinetry, all the necessary up-to-date appliances (especially a dishwasher because who wants to do dishes when you're on vacation). If you do decide to cook, the cupboards are well stocked with all the gadgets and cookware you'll need to take advantage of the incredible Farmer's Markets, fresh seafood and U-pick berry fields in the area. Other creature comforts include a 27-inch flat screen TV-DVD-VCR (70+ channels) in the great room plus second 25-inch TV-VCR with cable in the master bedroom, a stainless steel gas grill and free Wi-Fi.

    1916 Farm House

A historic Craftsman bungalow, the 1916 Farm House was fully restored in 2002 and is still surrounded by more than 35-acres of dedicated farmland and open space with breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains! A delightful farmhouse kitchen includes new modern appliances such as a dishwasher, refrigerator with bottom-freezer & ice maker, 4-burner radiant cook-top with large oven, and microwave. There are two large, light-filled bedrooms on the main floor (one King and one Queen) while two charming attic rooms furnished with 4 twin beds are the ideal "hideaway" for kids! On the first floor, you'll also find a living room with original stone fireplace, large dining room with original built-ins, 2 new bathrooms, laundry with full-size washer & dryer, and breakfast room. Additional ingredients for the perfect getaway include 2 TVs-DVD-VCR, CD player, local phone, an expansive deck with stainless-steel gas BBQ, and an amazing hydrotherapy spa under the stars. Bake a pie with apples from the orchard, pick some mint from the garden for your ice tea, and sit back on the front porch rocking chair and getaway to a simpler time.

    The Summer House

Tucked away on its own little lake surrounded by 2-acres of lush landscaping right "next door" to the main Lodge property, the Summer House is the newest getaway in our collection of extraordinary vacation rentals. This gracious private estate home can hardly be called a "cottage" with more than 3100-sq.ft. of finely appointed interiors. There are four bedrooms (3 Kings) and FOUR bathrooms, 2 gas fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen, full-size laundry with built-in ironing station, and a sunny, private patio with stainless steel gas grill. Creature comforts include two 32-inch widescreen, flat-panel HDTV-DVDs, CD players, alarm clocks, luggage racks and built-in hair dryers. Sleeps up to 3 couples privately or 10 persons comfortably. In fact, the Summer House is a very affordable option for two families to share! Beautiful furnishings, luxury linens, and attention to detail create a vacation rental that is definitely 180-degrees from rustic.

    Private Vacation Cottages

Our guest houses and cottages are ideal choices if you prefer an upscale, self-catering accommodation or "Maison d'Hote" in the classic European style. Unlike some vacation rentals that simply hand you a key, we provide concierge services to book day trips and dinner reservations, on-site security and tips on everything from finding the best tidepool beaches to how to roast fresh salmon on the gas grill.

Tucked away on its own little lake surrounded by lush landscaping and the nearly 9-acres of main Lodge property, The Summer House is the newest getaway in our collection of extraordinary vacation rentals. This private estate home can hardly be called a "cottage" with more than 2800-sq.ft. of finely appointed interiors. Beautiful furnishings, luxury linens, and high-end finishes create a vacation rental that is definitely 180-degrees from rustic. Our ever popular Guest House at the Lodge, and our absolutely charming and fully restored 1916 Farm House (near the Dungeness Spit & Wildlife Refuge and beach) are ideal choices if you want to settle in for a very affordable "home away from home" experience.

Like our Lodge, these vacation rentals feature upscale amenities such as King beds, cozy fireplaces, stylish full baths, multiple TV-DVD-VCR-CDs in every cottage, tasteful furnishings, and private hydrospas. They also have the added convenience of new custom kitchens with beautiful Shaker-style cherry cabinets, new appliances (that's full-size stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, frig & freezer), beautiful dishes, and a complete array of pots, pans & gourmet gadgets. Children of all ages are always welcome in the cottages and a portable crib, high chair, changing pads & diaper pails, and other kid-friendly amenities are provided upon request.

At Lost Mountain Lodge, you can choose from the best of both worlds on the Olympic Peninsula -- an exceptional country inn with luxury B&B suites or independent private cottages. Our guests come to explore the nearby tidepools, hike the misty Hoh Rain Forest, and trek the majestic mountain peaks of the Olympic National Park.

Centrally located on the Olympic Peninsula, the Lodge is just minutes to the Olympic National Park, great beachcombing at the Dungeness Spit, Port Angeles, and ferries to Victoria, B.C. It's a quick 30-minute trip to Crescent Lake and Sol duc Falls, 45-minutes to the historic seaport of Port Townsend, and a pleasant morning drive to the Hoh Rain Forest or Pacific Ocean beaches. We are just under 2 hours to Seattle and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Relax By The Cozy Fire in the Great Room

The minute you turn down our private lane onto 9-acres of sunny meadows, idyllic ponds, and inspiring mountain views, you'll understand why we were chosen one of Washington State's Top 40 Special Places in for Romance, Adventure & Gourmet Cuisine.

More than 5000-sq.ft. of bright, airy, and uncluttered interiors are just the beginning of a truly fresh interpretation of what a country inn should be! There are only three (3) spacious luxury B&B Suites in the main Lodge -- Every romantic fireplace suite has been designed to delight your senses and pamper your soul with King beds, down comforters and lavish linens, stylish full baths, 32-inch widescreen flat-panel HDTV-DVDs, free Wi-Fi, CD-players, silky microfiber resort robes and more.

After a gourmet breakfast, savor your morning latté on a sunny deck chair. After an invigorating hike in the rain forest, linger in our hydrotherapy spas under the stars.

Surrounded By Breathtaking BeautyOur property is a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat. Here on the estate, you'll see bald eagles, Great Horned owls, Great Blue herons, red-wing blackbirds, pileated woodpeckers, peregrine falcons, red-tailed hawks, black-tail deer, wigeons, pintails, gold finches--even bobcats. Want to see a bald eagle nest with new chicks? Visit us in May and early June. The Steller's Jay is a common forager in our orchard beginning in May, California Quail march their young around our Little Quail Lake in early June, and rare Belted Kingfishers make their annual pilgrimage to fish our ponds in late June. As soon as the daylilies bloom, our gardens are full of hummingbirds. Want to see hundreds of irridescent turquoise dragonflies flitting through the cattails on our ponds? Then be sure to visit in late July and early August. The natural wetlands here teem with life throughout the seasons. Even in Winter, you'll find green-winged teal ducks on our ponds from November through March.

Discover why Lost Mountain Lodge is the most peaceful of getaways, and why sitting in our extraordinary dual-waterfall hydrotherapy spa on a starry night listening to a symphony of crickets is an experience not to be missed!

    An Extraordinary Getaway

Since we opened the Lodge in 2001, we've welcomed guests from 50 states and 35 countries. The Lodge is personally managed by its artistic owners who attend to the smallest details. It is our pleasure to share our private home and the beauty of the Olympic Peninsula with you. To preserve the quality of our pristine natural setting, we are a completely Non-Smoking facility and we do NOT allow smoking anywhere on the grounds. Because the resident wildlife are so important to the quality of our guests' experience, we do not permit pets of any kind.

For executives or celebrities who want absolute privacy and need a bit of luxury when getting away from it all, the entire Lodge may be reserved by the week. The Sequim-Valley Airport with its lighted 3500-ft. runway provides excellent access by private plane/small jet and is just three (3) miles from the main Lodge.

Interested in fly fishing expeditions in the backcountry, kayaking the lakes in the Olympic National Park, Audubon-guided bird watching trips on the Dungeness Spit, or nature walks with a botanist in the Hoh Rain Forest? We'll put you in touch with the experts.

There are no formalities here. Savor your morning latté on our sunny front porch. Read Sequim's charming weekly newspaper in front of the soaring two-story fieldstone fireplace in the Great Room. Or, simply idle away time watching the great blue heron, kingfishers, and baby ducks on the ponds. Discover just how easy it is to unwind in this tranquil, park-like setting!

  • How To Find Us

Lost Mountain Lodge is a private estate in a private community. Detailed directions to the inn are mailed (or emailed) once you have secured your reservation.

So sorry, we do not conduct tours of the Lodge or grounds as a courtesy for the privacy of our registered guests. If you do not have a reservation with us, please call in advance to make an appointment so we may properly greet you. Otherwise you may be intruding on someone's wedding, interrupting a family gathering, or arriving at a time when the inn is closed. Thank you ever so much in advance for respecting this request.

We are less than 10-minutes by car to the amazing 5.5-mile stretch of saltwater beach at the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. In Washington State, beach and tidelands are privately owned and you must go to a public park or national seashore for beach access. The Dungeness Spit is by far the most interesting, diverse, and easily accessible beach until you reach the beaches along the Pacific Ocean in that part of the Olympic National Park.

We know because we just drove it ourselves so we could be sure we'd be giving guests the REAL skinny on the best way to get here. The waterfall and rain forest trails are just amazing in May and early June with the trillium and fiddlehead ferns in all their glory. You don't want to miss the Olympic Peninsula in the Spring!

If you're coming to visit after June 20, you'll simply have more choices on which route to take.

NOTE: You can find the latest ferry schedule by clicking here. Schedules vary for different times of year, weekends, and holidays, so you'll want to be sure you have the most current information.

    Ferry Tips

The Edmonds-Kingston Ferry (a 20-minute run) offers more frequent service, but you should plan to arrive early especially during summer months. We are 45-50 minutes from the Kingston ferry dock. The Edmonds route also takes you straight through historic Port Gamble, a village "frozen in time" in the late 1800's (the quaint church and charming residences are some of the most photographed buildings in Washington State). The Port Gamble Museum & General Store is also worth a visit. Rest stops on this route are few and far between, so it's a good idea to bring juices and snacks with you.

The Seattle-Bainbridge Island Ferry (a 35-minute run) can get extremely crowded on weekends during the summer and you might find yourself waiting one or two boats (although once inside the terminal gates, you can park & lock your car and take a walk along the colorful Seattle waterfront). You'll want to be back in your car at least 25-minutes ahead of the scheduled sailing time. With no delays, we're 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Winslow ferry dock on Bainbridge Island. A great place to stretch your legs is the charming Scandanavian village of Poulsbo (be sure you get off the highway strip and go down into the quaint town itself on scenic Liberty Bay). The Poulsbo Central Market (back on the highway) is also a great stop for coffee or to stock up on groceries, fresh fruit, snacks, and necessities.

Budget cutbacks have resulted in limited, if any, food service on many ferry runs! There is a Starbucks at the Seattle/Bainbridge dock and an OK coffee stand at the Edmonds ferry, but you're better off to grab something beforehand and definitely to pack snacks and juices for the kids.
