  • Introduction

The Shelburne Country Inn Bed and Breakfast near Long Beach, Washington is a true American classic boutique hotel. Its location in the small town of Seaview, just east of the Pacific Ocean in southwest Washington State on the Long Beach Peninsula, has a timeless appeal. It was originally established in 1896 as a retreat for visitors from Portland, Oregon, and has operated continuously since its inception, which makes it the oldest continuously operating hotel in the State of Washington.

A relaxing retreat for city dwellers, a sublime sanctuary for nature lovers, this country inn bed and breakfast houses fourteen thoughtfully appointed, cozily antique-furnished guest rooms, all with private bath and most with a private deck.

Rooms are highlighted with original art, period antiques and stained glass. Added modern comforts include wireless internet service throughout the building and a guest library featuring many good books to read, telephone and a computer for your convenience. The modern traveler will reach the inn from Portland, Oregon in just over two hours or from Seattle, Washington in just over three. The inn is less than half an hour from Astoria, Oregon.

For over a century guests have delighted in the superb cuisine offered at the Shelburne Country Inn. From fresh Willapa Bay oysters, Dungeness crab and local clams to a plethora of wild mushrooms and berries. Local specialties have delighted and nourished the hungry traveler since Robert Gray sailed up the Columbia in 1792.

The Innkeepers’ gourmet breakfast is complimentary with a room and remains a command performance. “Breakfast to the Shelburne is like art to the Louvre,” says the St. Louis Dispatch. The Shelburne Restaurant remains a stalwart proponent of serving fresh, local ingredients in a relaxed, elegant environment. For lighter fare, a guest might choose the adjacent Shelburne Pub. Both restaurant and pub are conveniently located on the premises.

Travelers from near and far have found warm hospitality, splendid cuisine and romantic shelter here since 1896. At the Shelburne Inn, hospitality is heart felt, and it just gets better with age. As they say in this corner of the world, Discovery Awaits!

All rooms feature freshly baked cookies upon arrival as well as our complimentary full gourmet breakfast, free wireless internet, all day tea and coffee service and the use of our guest computer library.

  • Gourmet Breakfast

The world of Pacific Northwest cuisine traditions are both those we have grown up with and those that survive in the unique Pacific Northwest microcosm. The North Coast natives drew from vast stores of wild edibles, which included salmon, venison, elk, berries, wild mushrooms and edible greens. Immigrants have come to this region from all over the world, of course, and two strong ethnic influences are Scandinavian and Asian. While often the dishes we prepare are distinctly of one ethnic influence, we are unable to resist the inclination toward innovation and often find ourselves inventing a new taste sensation through the blending of different traditions.

Our artistic eye plays a role when it comes to presentation. David is a potter and Laurie is a weaver, so playing with color and design comes naturally to both of them. Not to be forgotten are the two essential items of texture and flavor, the unseen elements in a dining experience and those that linger on the palate and in memory.

Most importantly, we support the philosophy that the purpose of food and wine, lovingly prepared and served is to enjoy. We delight in watching that happen.

Each Room Comes with a complimentary breakfast for two served between 8-10 am each day.

With each entree you enjoy carefully prepared and delicious sides including hot fresh baked goods from our in house bakery. No one leaves the Shelburne hungry or unsatisfied.

There is fresh coffee and tea from 6:30 each morning. Also served with breakfast is your choice of juice or milk.
