Welcome to Kangaroo House Bed and Breakfast on beautiful Orcas Island, Gem of the San Juan Islands of Washington State. Centrally located near Eastsound Village, a B&B is a great lodging alternative to a hotel or motel, with its home-like atmosphere, and the added value of a delicious full breakfast included in the room price. This lovely 1907 Craftsman inn has been providing accommodations for more than 26 consecutive years and has a long history of distinctive lodging dating back to the 1910's.

Spend a quiet afternoon curled up with a book. Linger over one of our fine, homemade breakfasts in the bright and airy breakfast room or on the sunny deck. After a day of hiking, cycling, sailing, or shopping, enjoy an intimate and relaxing soak in the garden hot tub under the stars.
At Kangaroo House Bed & Breakfast, hospitality means a welcoming atmosphere maintained by friendly hosts. Please use and enjoy the beautiful furnishings and feel comfortable enough to make yourselves at home, the way a vacation should be - relaxed, without a whole lot of fuss or rules!
Set back 150 feet from the road, with its deep porch and oversized windows, the inn at first glance does not look like the 6,000 square foot lodge that it is. Protected from deer by a high fence, winding grass paths wander through the wilds of the garden all the way back to the open-air hot tub in a secluded spot the yard. The garden been certified as a Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and has been planted to attract the widest variety of animals possible.
The guest deck, with container plantings and hanging baskets, provide an overlook to the gardens and a place to relax, sip wine, watch the sunset, and you don’t have to be a "birder" to enjoy the antics of all the various birds (about 50 different species identified so far) coming and going at the feeders. The view from the hot tub at night shows a million twinkling stars is blissful silence.

- Kangaroo House is a non-smoking facility, both in the inn and on the grounds. We'll charge for our time, whole inn rental and professional cleaning if you smoke in the inn. Make sure all your guests are aware of this.
- As yet, we only accommodate human guests. Eastsound Kennels (360 376-2410) can house furry friends, but prior arrangements are necessary. We can also recommend places that do accept pets.
- We welcome groups with guests 12 years old or older and can recommend other places that accept younger children.
- Check-in after 2:30PM. We don't require you to check-in by a certain time. Please feel free to arrive at any time after 2:30 pm. If we happen to be out running errands, hiking, or otherwise enjoying the island, we will leave a note and room key for you. Please make yourself at home. Tea and cocoa are always available. You can sign up for a time in the hottub, curl up with a book from our library, relax in the inn and gardens, or go explore the island.
- Check-out by 11:00AM please.
- Deposit: When you make a reservation, your credit card will be charged a $30 non-refundable deposit per room reserved. The remaining amount will be charged within 2 weeks of your arrival date.
- For Cancellations made within 14 days of your scheduled arrival, you will be credited for nights we can re-reserve, minus the deposit(s). Since email and voicemail can be blocked or lost, cancellation requests should be considerd complete after you receive our confirmation email. Cancellations have huge impact on our business. So, we follow these policies closely.
