Table Of Contents
Come to our Blue Ridge Mountains bed and breakfast - the perfect getaway for all seasons and all occasions in your life. Nestled along the banks of the Rock Castle Creek in Woolwine, Virginia, the romantic Mountain Rose Inn, a 1901 Victorian home, offers historical country elegance within the shadows of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
You're invited to enjoy the tranquil beauty of our Virginia country inn. Secluded on 100 acres of land and open all year long, the Inn is the ideal place for a relaxing weekend or vacation. Stroll the expansive lawn and garden and rest in the hammocks along the creek. Taste VA wines along the Blue Ridge Wine Trail featuring the Chateau Morrisette and Foggy Ridge Cider. Take in local bluegrass music and attend the Friday Night Jamboree in Floyd, Virginia at the Floyd County Store. Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit the quaint towns of Stuart, Floyd, and Blacksburg. For nature lovers, hike in the surrounding hills and birdwatch on the Inn's property.
Right now at the Inn, guests are enjoying the beauty of the spring season. Flowers are blooming, birds are fledging from their nests and warm, sunny days are the norm. Weekend getaways and summer vacations to the area are made easier with one of the Inn's all-inclusive getaway packages.
Come for a stay at the Inn and experience this most wonderful season. You will wake each morning (Mon-Sat) to our four-course breakfast prepared just for you. You can spend long afternoons relaxing in a rocking chair on the front porch reading a book. Shop at local stores for unique artisans' wares, or visit the local wineries for tours and tastings. End your perfect days with seasonal fare for dinners at the area's finest restaurants. You will leave refreshed - your spirit rested and restored.
The Inn and the surrounding 100 acres are owned by the Wolcott & Rhodes families. Not wanting to see their beloved childhood home fall into ruin, they devised a plan to open their home up as a retreat for travelers to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Inn is one of the oldest and most well-known B&Bs in the area.
The Mountain Rose Inn is currently managed by Innkeepers, Mike & Dora Jane Barwick. Originally from South Carolina, they enjoy working together as a team and specialize in making their guests' experiences at the Inn ones to remember.
Caring for this fabulous Inn and for its guests is their current passion in life. They are certainly hoping that you will come visit soon.
On the occasion that Mike & Dora Jane are away, Carl & Carol Rupprecht, the Inn's assistant Innkeepers, warmly greet and care for guests. After living in Rhode Island for many years, Carl & Carol moved back to Woolwine to enjoy retirement. One of their great joys is being gracious hosts at the Inn and providing guests with a wonderful stay in their beloved Blue Ridge Mountains.
Part of the Inn's charm is found in its current four-legged occupant. Cat, a rescue who came to the Inn in 2005, enjoys greeting guests and keeping them company when they are exploring the Inn's grounds. He is often found curled up napping in one of the Inn's front porch rocking chairs. Mike & Dora Jane's 'boy' understands that some folks may be allergic to his fur, and so he does not visit inside the Inn.
