Our Virginia country inn, Dutchies View, started life in the mid-1800s as a two-room farm house on the back of the property. It had no plumbing or running water. In 1950, it was rolled with horses and logs to its current location. Three bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as electricity and plumbing, were added to accommodate a family of seven. In 1994, a Dutch couple purchased the poorly maintained property. They added the six guestrooms and changed several of the rooms. In 1996, Dutchies View Bed and Breakfast was born. In 2005, Crystal and Patrick Powell purchased the B&B and slowly made it home with all new country-style quilts and decorations adorning all the different rooms. In 2008, they renovated to include a larger living room with more comfortable seating options, a library area, and a larger dining room that has a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains right from your dining room chair. The kitchen was also updated to be more efficient and roomy.
We think you will love our beautiful little country inn as a weekend getaway or vacation spot.
Give us a try, you be the judge. We don't think you will be disappointed.
Dutchies View Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful alternative to a Blacksburg, VA hotel when you visit Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Our Woolwine, Virginia inn is also conveniently located for visiting the University of Radford campus.Patrick and Crystal Powell purchased Dutchies View B&B in February of 2005, giving up their jobs in the big city in search of happiness. Neither has regretted their decision. Patrick was a rental property manager for a medium-sized real estate office. Born and raised in Hampton, VA, his move to the mountains was certainly a first for him. Crystal was a programmer for a large government contractor. Having moved a lot and being a country girl at heart, the slow life suits her well.

Daisy, a Daschund, is the Queen of the B&B. She is very bossy, but she is usually willing to offer her belly for a good rub session.
Dutchie, a Swissy/Gordon Setter mix, is the newest member of the family and is always happy to see you. She loves a good head rub and is always eager to entertain. As a constant companion to most guests, she loves to be spoiled.
At Dutchies View, each of our inn's 6 rooms has many amenities to make your Virginia lodging cozy, from the quaint cottage feel of the rooms to the pillowtop mattresses donned with 100% Egyptian cotton ultra-soft sheets. Each room has it own full private bath with 100% cotton oversized towels and a comfy chair to sit and read or gaze out at the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can also venture out for a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, one of Virginia's most scenic highways.

Our living room is a great spot to sit and read, do a puzzle, meet our other guests, watch TV, or just relax. The dining room is another great place to play games, talk with new friends, or to just sit and enjoy the view from the French doors. If the outdoors is more your speed, we have chairs and rockers on our spacious porches. The Adirondack chairs near the bocce court make a nice spot to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy our views or just the quiet of nature. A breeze can always be enjoyed from the hammocks that hang in a stand of pines where napping is a favorite pastime. Or take a walk around our 17 acres.
