Mr. Moore's Study

This is a lovely room that was added in the 1940s as a study by the Virginia senator and Speaker of the House E. Blackburne Moore. The lights glowing on the beautiful woodwork at night make this room especially atmospheric. It has a queen wrought iron bed, built-in corner shelves, mantle, and a new bath with a tiled shower and pedestal sink. Pictures don't do this room justice and guests love it when they see it. While it is our smallest room, it is comfortable and relaxed seating for two.   This is the only first floor room, awith a rate of $130.

The Cottage Suite

Enter through French doors and climb the steps to a charming, very private attic suite. This is the only room with a separate sitting room with a sofa bed that can accommodate a third person (an additional $40). The cottage style rooms have sloped walls (but don't inhibit walking), gables, built in cupboards and drawers, and individually controlled heat and central air. The bedroom beckons you with deep yellow ochre walls and white trim with splashes of red. It has a lovely queen metal bed. The sitting room is decorated in blue, yellow and white and has a queen sofa sleeper. It's the only room with a television and a selection of DVDs. The small but functional pretty bath has been renovated with a tiled tub/shower and a pedestal sink.  This is the only room on the 3rd floor (attic) and it has a rate of $150, $40 additional person.

The Cortland Room

This large room is distinctly decorated with midnight blue walls, white woodwork, and a touch of green accents. It has a queen sleigh bed, wood burning fireplace (mid November to mid March), slant top dresser/desk, reclining wingback chair, cotton robes, and individual heat control. It's the only room where you can kick back on a private porch and enjoy the view over the back yard from rocking chairs. The adjacent private bath is just outside your room a few steps. It has a tiled tub/shower and marble floor. This is a second floor room that faces the back yard, with a rate of $140 ($150 mid Nov. - mid March).

The Winesap Room

This large room is warmed by rose walls and sage accents, and the triple bowed window brings in lots of light. It has a queen mission style panel bed, desk, a wood burning fireplace (mid November to mid March), built-in bookshelves, shuttered windows, and individual heat control. The bath has a tiled shower, vanity table, and heated tile floors. This is a second floor room, with a rate of $140  ($150 mid Nov. - mid March, 2 night min. on winter weekends).

The Braeburn Room

This is a romantic (but not frilly!) room with soothing sage walls and lavender accents. It has a queen carved oak bed, mantle, individual heat control, and a new bath with a tiled shower. This is a medium sized, second floor room with a rate of $130.
