Long Hill Bed & Breakfast - Winchester, Virginia

    ~#1 Inn in the South~
    ~Fourth Consecutive Year -- Best Breakfast --
Arrington Book of Lists -- #1 in the Northeast of North America ~
Certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat -- National Wildlife Federation

A Blend of Centuries Designed by the owner and custom built by master craftsmen, Long Hill combines old and new. The result is comfort, privacy and beauty. Log beams, floorboards, stained glass, bricks, doors and hardware, and fieldstone rocks for the exterior were gathered from hundred-year-old houses and incorporated into a modern, flowing floor plan.

    Natural Setting
From its position at the head of 19 acres, Long Hill, though only 30 years old, appears to have always been part of the countryside.

    Comfort and Privacy
Many sitting areas inside the house and out in the garden provide privacy and relaxation.

    Birds & Butterflies
The grounds are certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. Birdfeeders, a bird and butterfly garden, goldfish pond, and the natural woods provide food and safety for deer, small animals, and several dozen species of birds.

    Tourism Anchor
Long Hill is ideally situated as a home base for day trips to visit area attractions. History, antiquing, fine dining, shopping, live theatre, golf -- you'll find it all in Winchester and the surrounding area. Return to Long Hill for peace and solitude after a busy day.

    Long Hill B&B Cookbook

We are proud to offer our collection of breakfast recipes in a neat little 24 page easy-to-read book. These recipes have evolved from many church and organization cookbooks -- when I'm working on a new recipe I usually have 3 or 4 cookbooks open to variations of the same recipe, and then I start modifying, testing it on the family, tweaking, testing on the family some more, and then preparing it for B&B guests. It's an honor to have been selected for the fourth consecutive year for Arrington's Book of Lists as the BEST BREAKFAST in the category of Best Breakfast in the Northeast of all North America. We appreciate our guests' requests for the recipes served during their visit, and we have compiled this booklet as a response to requests for the whole collection. Besides having these delicious and easy breakfast recipes for your own family, this book makes a great hostess gift, bridal shower gift, stocking stuffer, wedding party gift.

  • How to Find Us

Apple Pie Ridge Road (VA-739) intersects with US-522 North within sight of the US-37 overpass. Turn from US-522 onto Apple Pie Ridge Road. Go 0.9 mile. Long Hill driveway is on the left between our 547 mailbox and our Long Hill B&B sign. Follow along the asphalt, tree-lined driveway and up the long hill. We will greet you at your car.

    From I-81 south of Winchester:

    • Take Exit 310. Turn left on VA-37 North.
    • Proceed approximately 6 1/2 miles and take exit for US-522.
    • Turn left onto US-522 North.
    • Go under the VA-37 overpass.
    • Turn right on VA-739 (Apple Pie Ridge Road). See above.

    From I-81 north of Winchester:

    • Take Exit 317. Turn right onto US-11/VA-37 south.
    • Stay to the right -- this becomes VA-37 South.
    • Go approximately 2 miles. Take exit for US-522.
    • Turn right onto US-522 North.
    • Turn on first road to right -- VA-739 (Apple Pie Ridge Road). See above.

If you are approaching Winchester on US-522 from the north, watch for Apple Pie Ridge Road and turn to the left. When you see the I-37 interchange ahead you will be at VA-739 (Apple Pie Ridge Road). See above.

There is also I-66 --- I-66 goes East/West across the southern tip of Frederick County. If you are approaching FROM the East, take US-50/17 just west of Marshall. This will take you onto a two-lane, very scenic route - watch for the BUMP at the railroad tracks at Delaplane - and is a shorter route than going all the way to I-81.

If you are on I-66 FROM the West, take I-81 north.
