High in the Blue Ridge Mountains, less than a mile from Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 27, there is a haven of natural beauty called the Sugar Tree. Set on twenty-eight wooded acres at 2800 feet and surrounded by national forest, Virginia's Mountain Inn is a place of rustic elegance, peace and tranquility. Panoramic views and cool mountain air make it a perfect retreat from sweltering summer heat.
In the Fall, the landscape is brilliant with yellow, rust, orange and scarlet from the foliage of the hardwood forest. The Spring blooms with fragrance and color as the rhododendron, mountain laurel, trillium, and dogwood flowers appear. Nature encompasses the Inn as habitants of the woods include deer, hummingbirds, hawks, chipmunks and raccoons.

Relax from the moment you arrive. Pick a rocker and enjoy the 40-mile view while the quiet soothes away your workaday stress. Follow a hummingbird from the porch feeders to the dogwoods below. As evening falls, enjoy a spectacular sunset and then marvel at the stars as night encompasses the mountains. Before you turn in, perhaps you would like to stargaze while relaxing in our hot tub on the mountainside deck. Then stoke up the fire and pull up a chair. Dive into a book from our eclectic upstairs library or choose a game to play. When you start to nod, climb into bed for the unbroken sleep that comes so effortlessly in the mountains.
Our thirteen rooms and suites are divided between four buildings, each having its own very special “feelâ€Â. All rooms have private entrances and baths, chairs by the wood-burning fireplaces, CD players, coffee/teas, and personally controlled heating/air conditioning. Some rooms indulge you further with whirlpool tubs, ceiling fans, VCRs and video tapes, separate sitting rooms and outside decks for relaxing on a sunny afternoon. You will sleep in rustic elegance with comfortable beds and country quilts.
Our Main Lodge features our lobby with a two-story, hand laid stone fireplace, dining facilities, and a full length covered porch with 40-mile views. Morning begins in our glass-walled dining room looking out through the wildflowers. Our full breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and includes Becky's baked oatmeal, fresh fruits and muffins, breakfast meats, and eggs. We are now serving our three course dinner on Friday & Saturday and a more casual lighter fare most weekdays. See "menu" for more details.
