Nestled in the heart of the Raleigh Court community is the beautifully restored Maridor Bed & Breakfast an elegant example of Colonial Revival architecture with Federal Style detailing.

Built in 1916, Maridor received its name from its third owner, Marion Augustus Smyth, President of National Business College who re-named the home "Maridor" after his two children, Marion and Dorothy. Maridor is just blocks away and within easy walking distance of the lovely Grandin Village with its many specialty shops, restaurants or the renowned Grandin Theatre. Downtown Roanoke is a short drive away as is the wonderful and picturesque Blue Ridge Parkway. Roanoke College, Hollins University, Ferrum College and Virginia Tech University are all within a short distance

The Maridor Bed & Breakfast offers the discriminating guest the ambiance of a beautiful private home with the luxurious comfort of a fine hotel. Spacious guest rooms and suites are designed for the enjoyment of travelers whether it is for business or pleasure.

Each oversized bedroom features an antique or reproduction queen or king sized bed and a private bath complete with vintage accessories. Soaking tubs and pedestal sinks take the visitor back to an era long forgotten. All rooms afford the guest ample seating and suite room offer adjacent private sunporches for the guest's enjoyment. Imported linens and comfortable surroundings insure the guest a truly pampered experience.

Guests are invited to enjoy the luxurious common areas of the house, which include a bright and airy sunporch, an oversized living room with down filled chairs and sofas and a beckoning fireplace or the intimate library. Also available is a wonderful partially enclosed outdoor porch so guests may enjoy the gardens regardless of the weather.

Full gourmet breakfast will be served in either the antique filled dining room on a table adorned with fine china and crystal or on any of the sunporches. Evening refreshments are served in the dining room and tea and coffee service are available anytime.

Your stay at Maridor will be complemented by the graciousness of your hosts who will make it their responsibility to assure you a truly unforgettable experience. Great attention has been given to detail in the careful restoration of this fine property and your hosts are anxious to share with you what they feel will be most memorable experience. 

From I-81 (North or South) - Take 581 to Roanoke, stay on 581 until you reach the Colonial Avenue exit. At exit make a right onto Colonial Ave. At light make a left onto Brandon Road. Stay on Brandon Road until the fourth light. make a right onto Grandin Road and Maridor will be the seventh house on the left. Maridor is on the corner of Grandin Shirley. make a left onto Shirley and house will be on the right. House is at 1857 Grandin Road. Parking is available at the rear of the house. Please use front entrance.

From 220 - Take 220 North to the Wonju/Colonial Ave. exit. Go to the light on Colonial and make a right onto Colonial and follow the directions above.
