Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Sean and Polly Brooks for sharing their own secrets with BBOnline.com! Why do most travelers stay at your inn?
We are located very centrally in the popular Museum District of Richmond within walking distance to museums, Carytown shopping district, Byrd Park, the Byrd Theatre and many shops and restaurants.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?
Our bed and breakfast is unique in that guests have their own private entrance and private living space separate from the owners/innkeepers. Our guests enjoy the warmth and coziness of being in our home, yet the privacy of having their own apartment right in the heart of the city.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?
Richmond is rich in history and there are many fabulous historic landmarks to explore all closeby The One. It's just a bonus that we also have amazing dining, arts and entertainment closeby, and don't forget the museums!!
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?
Recently a guest wrote in our guest book that they felt like they spent the weekend at their mom's house, because they were pampered and spoiled and every thing was taken care of just like their mom does. Nobody pampers like a mom, so we were pretty thrilled with that description.
What’s the best kept secret about the area?
Likely Hollywood Cemetery. It is well known in Richmond, but not sure how many visitors go there. It is amazing and beautiful and full of history. Some of the most picturesque views of the city!
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?
The list is endless, but to name just a few: Hollywood Cemetery, VA Museum of Fine Arts (only two blocks from The One), Carytown, The Capital, Segway Tour of Richmond, Monument Avenue, Canal Walk. There are too many to list.
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?
We are surrounded by activities, restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Museums, Carytown, one of Richmond's favorite shopping and dining location, as well as the site for many of our local festivals. Byrd Park is also only a few blocks away, for those looking for outdoor activities.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?
There are too many to name a favorite and they are all great neighbors and friends, so it wouldn't be fair to spot light just one! We have a favorites map on our website and in each of our guests room, as well as a menu book for our guests to browse of some of our local favorites.
Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?
Richmond.com is a great source for events in the area, but you can also follow us on Facebook or visit the "Attractions" page on our website for more information and ideas.
How many rooms does your inn have?
We currently have only two guest suites, however we are in the process of expanding to add two additional rooms.
Do you accept pets?
Due to the shared space, we do not allow pets; however once the new Cellar space is permitted and added to the bed and breakfast, we will allow pets in that space.
