Adelheid and I recently acquired the Inn and are very happy to bring a new perspective to the experience we will offer our guests!

    Enjoy Our Beautiful Gardens

Even with all the Victorian decorations, we are not a museum, but a couples' retreat! That means we hope you'll find South Court's "high" Victorian decoration and furnishings not just beautiful, but also part of a "make yourselves at home" atmosphere as well. We want you to be impressed when you come in the front door...but half-an-hour later, we want you to feel free to run around bare-foot, lounge in the sunroom or prop up with a book in the middle of our living room floor if you like!

A Warm Welcome Awaits YouIt took the original innkeepers three years to renovate the building. Since it was built in 1875, they did not want to destroy the character of the building. But, as time passed, they found that the guests wanted canopy beds and whirlpool tubs, instead of antique claw-foot tubs. So more innovation was done and what we've named the Turquoise, Golden and Ruby Rooms had added to them whirlpool tubs.  Make sure to get a look at the Sapphire Room if you want a bright, airy room with king-sized bed and hot shower. We are also pleased to offer the The South Court Cottage which has the ability to sleep 4 with a queen sized bed upstairs and a day bed/trundle combo downstairs along with a kitchenette and huge whirlpool tub!  The South Court Cottage is also available as a "B&B stay with breakfast and amenities or as a "self catered" where the guests can have total privacy and do their own thing in the kitchenette. We will be seeing some exiting changes in the months ahead for the cottage as well!  We think you will enjoy it!

We have specially priced packages for just about everything you'd like to do. Make us your home base for fun throughout the area. We're only 2 hours from Washington D.C. metro area and convenient to everything the historic Shenandoah Valley has to offer.

    Breakfast at South Court Inn

Our Sunday breakfasts are always the highlight of our weekend fare. We always start with a fresh fruit dish, move on to a main course and then end with a tart, sticky bun or other sweet. We might surprise folks by starting with a fresh blueberry, raspberry or peach soup.  A new specialty of the house we officially call "Eggs South Court" but I like to call them "Eggs ala Ala!  They are a wonderful poached egg, English Muffin and cheese sauce invention that you will only find here. Vegetarians don't either, Adelheid has a few delicious tricks up her sleeve!

Here is just a sample of one of our delicious breakfast menus. You'll also enjoy some decadent desserts while staying with us.

    Your Hosts & Innkeepers

"We are glad you found South Court Inn and hope you will come to stay with us at our bed and breakfast and home here in Luray, Virginia.

My husband Mike and I bought the Inn in July 2012. We are so happy to have found an Inn that is well received in the community, has great ratings, and is well established.

I have been cooking and feeding people since 1986 when I moved to America to feed my new husband. Eight years after that there were three little boys who were hungry as well. So I fed them. Besides them many friends and family from Germany and many other countries were cooked for by me. Last but not least we have welcomed seven exchange students from Germany, Sweden, Norway, Russia and the Netherlands into our home. These kids became part of our family and still keep close contact.

Besides all the cooking I earned a degree in Art History from George Mason University and have worked for eight years as a preschool teacher at HOPE preschool in Ashburn, VA.

It will be mostly me, Adelheid running the Inn, and doing the day to day chores. Not to underestimate Mike's role as the bookkeeper and lawnboy. He might just not be here when you come since he has another career.

Mike is plenty busy with his other job, a 757 and 767 captain for United Airlines. He has been flying since he is 14 and still loves it a lot. So much as a matter of fact that he is now building his/our own two seater, a Mustang II from a kit. He is so happy that the outbuildings at the Inn give him plenty of room to pursue his hobby.

We have three grown sons. The oldest is just starting his career in Atlanta, Georgia after he graduated from Virginia Tech in May. Our middle son is enrolled in James Madison University and our youngest son is starting college at the University of Virginia.

Enough about us, now we are ready to meet you and hear your story!"
