  • Introduction

The Hummingbird InnEnjoy a romantic setting and warm country hospitality in our unique Lexington, VA area bed and breakfast, a pet friendly Victorian Carpenter Gothic Inn situated in the small mountain village of Goshen. Centrally located just west of scenic Goshen Pass on the western edge of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, the town of Goshen sits in a small triangle defined by Lexington, Staunton, and Warm Springs / Hot Springs.

Guests enjoy our casual, comfortable, informal bed and breakfast for its relaxed country atmosphere. Nestled in a little railroad town (Train lovers can be guaranteed a train will pass in front of the inn sometime during their stay), the Hummingbird Inn is close to Lexington, VA and the many things to do in Rockbridge and Bath counties. We invite you to relax at our B&B, to celebrate a special occasion - a babymoon, anniversary, romantic weekend - or simply to amble about the spectacular countryside of western Virginia's Shenandoah Valley - the Blue Ridge and Alleghany mountains.

The Hummingbird Inn-Rustic DenThe five-guest-room Hummingbird Inn is perfect for family gatherings and reunions of friends - with lots of space to spread out and enjoy visiting with one another. We welcome small weddings, elopements, and renewal of vows - call us to discuss your ideas. We will help you plan hikes and we can provide you with maps and directions for your excursions.

First built in 1780 and expanded in 1853 to its current size, our historic home hosted Eleanor Roosevelt in 1935. Architectural features include wraparound verandas on the first and second stories, original pine floors throughout the house, a rustic den with the original wood-burning stone fireplace, a spacious yet cozy living room with a piano and fireplace, a large dining room with comfortable seating for 16, and the original solarium. A covered deck next to our historic 1875 barn, the old town livery stable, overlooks Mill creek, a wide trout stream.

In 2016, we built our first cabin creekside. Serenity Cabin is built among the treetops with a private deck on the creek, guests enjoy private access, a fully equipped kitchen and all the modern amenities for their comfort. Added bonus, breakfast and daily freshening included in their stay!

Whether you're looking for peace and quiet, cozy and comfortable surroundings that feels like home, we welcome you to our Inn. Come for a getaway, kick back in front of our fireplace, stroll around over an acre of gardens, take your motorcycle on Scenic Byway 39, go for a hike, ride your bicycle on back roads, visit the local vineyards, fish in the Maury River, see why our guests return time and again.
