Mountain Culture Retreats
We coordinate and host our Mountain Culture Retreats for your particular group of children and/or adults to include any number of hands-on workshops lasting from an afternoon up to an entire week. Workshops are personalized for your group by local mountain craftsmen, musicians, storytellers and farmers. You may learn to flat-foot (clog) with our local Blue Grass band, forge iron with our local Blacksmith in his shop, assist our local Glassblower in his studio, create a lovely basket with our local Basket weaver in our studio, throw pots or hand-build clay sculpture with our resident clay artist (Caroline) in our studio, or build a dulcimer with our local Luthier (and learn to play it!). We can also lead your group on one of the many hiking trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway, including the nearby Rock Castle Gorge trail. Other activities may include a visit to a working organic farm, or see powerful horses haul logs in a selective logging operation. There are many possibilities...just ask!
