The home was originally built in 1830 and is surrounded by beautiful grounds and original outbuildings including a working smokehouse. Cooper's Landing features a casual, fine-dining restaurant with an indoor tavern, outside patio for dining, and outside wine bar.
We are please to announce that beginning this May guests will be able to enjoy our new inground 20 by 40 swimming pool . . . you can lounge around sipping specialty cocktails, dine alfresco poolside, or enjoy the new Fire Pit after an evening dip!
Our guests can enjoy an afternoon cocktail upon arrival and are always served a full-course breakfast either to their bedroom door or in our beautiful sunroom. Our guests are welcome to enjoy the grounds, relax on our front porch, or dine under the stars on our trellised patio.

We have just finished restoring the original smokehouse behind the Inn and now offer "Cooper's Springs" to you. After a day of exploring or right before your massage, slip out back to enjoy our new 60 jet 10 person HOT TUB. The smokehouse has has been restored with many romantic touches in mind, including a chandelier that can be dimmed and a skylight that looks into the beautiful night sky.Cooper's Landing Inn & Traveler's Tavern is located... 67 mi. north of Raleigh · 100 mi. northeast of Greensboro · 110 mi. south of Richmond · 150 mi. west of VA Beach Clarksville is the only town sitting directly on Bugg's Island Lake, the largest lake in Virginia with over 850 miles of shoreline. The lake is unexcelled in fishing, and all expected water activities are available. Additionally, there are craft shops, antiques, tennis, swimming, golf, hiking, biking, museums, and local performing arts activities located only blocks away in Clarksville. Clarksville affords its visitors fine dining, antique specialists, and gift shops that are happy to welcome all visitors with a smile. Mecklenburg County is surrounded by local history and showcases many historical and architectural gems including Prestwould Plantation circa 1790, McCullum More Gardens & Museum, Occoneeche State Park, and Boyd Tavern. At Cooper's Landing we specialize in intimate ceremonies, extravagant receptions, quaint rehearsal dinners, beautiful bridal luncheons, and engagement cocktail parties. Weddings can be held inside the Inn in the parlor, library, staircase or outside on the porch, trellised patio, or lawns. We can help arrange a small intimate wedding ceremony for two or we can hold a wedding reception for up to 150 people. If your guest list exceeds 150 people, we will be happy to cater your event at an off-premise location of your choice. Our guests can enjoy an afternoon cocktail upon arrival and are always served a full course breakfast served either to their bedroom door, taken in our beautiful sunroom, or formal dining room. Beverages and snacks are always available to our guests on our butler's pantry 24 hours a day including coffee, dessert wines or sherry, herbal tea, soda, bottled water, granola, biscotti, fresh fruit, and seasonal delicacies.
Guests are always welcome to enjoy a drink next to the original woodstove in our tavern anytime during their stay in the winter months, and in the summer sit under a mighty oak tree or relax on the front porch. We offer featured red and white wines, specialty cocktails, imported beers, and seasonal specialties like hot toddies in the winter and fresh mango margaritas in the summer months. Guests are also encouraged to slip out back and enjoy Cooper Springs, our 60 jet, 16 person hot tub which is enclosed in the original smokehouse where guests can dim the chandelier lights and gaze at the stars through the skylight.
In the summer months, the mood lighting of the pool surrounded by oaks wrapped in twinkling lights will call you to take an evening dip or you can sunbath during the day while enjoying a margarita or meal off our pool menu.

Whether the two of you are eloping to Cooper's Landing or holding an elaborate affair with 200 guests, Chef Les will create a personalized wedding cake that celebrates your personality. From edible orchids, to rich buttercream frosting, to Strawberry and Chambord filling, your cake will please the palate! -
From quaint romantic candlelight dining for two to fabulous festive gatherings for your groups, Cooper's Landing has the perfect dining room for you. There are three inside dining rooms, the private wine room, yellow dining room, and the blue dining room. In addition, there is a beautiful sunroom that looks out on the pool and an authentic English style tavern where you can grab a book from the Inn's extensive collection or cozy up in front of the original woodstove with a glass of port.
- The yellow dining room will accomodate up to 32 people
- The blue dining room will accomodate up to 22 people
- The wine room will accomodate 7 people and is perfect for family celebrations or business dinners.
In additional to the inside dining areas, Cooper's Landing has two brick patios. The main trellised brick patio is covered by wisteria and can accomodate up to 130 guests. There is an outside bar on the patio as well as a dance floor area and outdoor speakers so it is a favorite for groups holding rehearsal dinners or wedding receptions. In the summer months, we feature our "Live Music Under the Stars" series every Friday night with musicians performing from 7 - 11 pm. The side patio surrounds the pool and can accomodate up to 100 guests and is a favorite for guests holding garden parties or cocktail and heavy hors d'oeuvre receptions. A bar can also be set-up in this area and the trees are full of twinkle lights as well as ambiance lighting in the pool. There are outdoor speakers in this area as well as an area that can be utilized for a dance floor.
The Garden Gazebo area can accomodate up to 150 guests and is the location for most of the Inn's Wedding Ceremonies and Receptions. This area is surrounded by Wayland Cypress trees to give guests a very private enclosed feel and the area has a beautiful tree canopy to provide shade. The trees are full of twinkle lights and there are outdoor speakers throughout the area to complement your private gathering. Menus The menu at Cooper's Landing will reflect each season and change seasonally to include blackboard specials that highlight certified Black Angus meats, fresh fish, and local seasonal vegetables and fruit. We also offer Chef Les's nightly specials which can be paired with interesting and unique wines. We offer intimate seating for two as well as private dining rooms for groups. If you are celebrating a special occasion please inquire about our private candlelight wine room for a unique dining experience. you may want them to be a part of your special vacation at Cooper’s Landing. Even though we love animals,
we do have some policies to ensure the comfort of all our guests:- Only small animals can be accommodated at Cooper's Landing.
- Due to the fact that we have an eating establishment downstairs, pets will need to be kept upstairs in the guest area or outside on a leash.
- Pets are allowed with innkeeper’s prior approval only!
- $15 / night fee added to room rates for pets.
- The innkeepers reserve the right to refuse accommodations to a pet upon arrival of they feel the animal poses any threat to the health or harmony of guests.
- Pets must be house-broken and non-chewers or diggers.
- Pets should be kept off the furniture and should bring their own crates / beds
