Arah & Sam Tied the Knot at Beliveau Estate Winery! 11 Jul 2014, 3:07 pm

Following the wedding rehearsal Wednesday evening, we had the pleasure of serving wine and dinner to Arah, Sam, and their friends and families who traveled to celebrate their marriage on July 10th. Guests dined on assorted wraps, pasta and broccoli salads, and other delightful foods prepared by Chef Dell. Selected wines were Kaleidoscope (dry Pinot Grigio), Discovery (sweet Niagara/Pinot Grigio blend), Silhouette (dry Cabernet Sauvignon), and Sunset Sipper (fruity and spicy Red Zinfandel).  After spending the evening with the sweet bride-to-be, her charming fiance, and “their people,” we knew the main event would be a marvelous celebration.

The Arbor Decorated Beautifully with Peach Roses

At 4pm Thursday evening, wedding attendees took their seats and delighted in the sounds of acoustic guitar as the procession began. Sam and his groomsmen stood by the arbor, which was bursting with peach roses, as they waited for the bridesmaids to join them at the hilltop. The men looked dapper in their suspenders and the ladies captivated the audience in their contrasting peach and teal chiffon dresses. Arah looked gorgeous in her lace bridal gown as she ascended the hilltop on her father’s arm. The ceremony, led by Father Scott Russell, was a beautiful sight against the lush, green mountains and the clear, blue sky.

The Robbins Wedding Ceremony

After Arah and Sam were pronounced husband and wife, guests descended from the hilltop to enjoy cocktail hour on the patio. It was pleasing to see folks mingling, sipping wine and cocktails, sampling hors d’oeuvres, and reveling in the breathtaking views that surround Beliveau Estate. Some folks engaged in a friendly game of cornhole upon discovering the custom-painted boards embellished with Arah and Sam’s initials.

Meanwhile, Charlottesville-based Photographer C. Tyler Corvin and his wife Rebecca worked together to capture the first moments of Arah and Sam’s marriage on film. The duo appeared to do a wonderful job of documenting all the magical moments that took place throughout the night.

Once Arah, Sam, the bridesmaids, and the groomsmen rejoined the group, the real party started. DJ Mike Steffan of High Impact Entertainment in Winston-Salem, NC invited everyone into the Great Hall to warmly welcome the wedding party and Mr. & Mrs. Robbins! After much excitement and congratulatory exchanges, everyone sat down to enjoy dinner. Guests admired the alluring centerpieces that Arah’s mother, Celia, created for each table using succulents and terracotta pots. All the decor, from elegant roses to rustic mason jars, added beautiful country-chic touches to the venue.

Once everyone got their fill of Chef Dell’s salmon, London broil, ravioli, salads, and sides, and cake from Our Daily Bread Bakery in Blacksburg, the lights went out and DJ Mike set the tone for a dance party! Everyone had a terrific time at the reception, whether dancing, socializing, nibbling tasty foods, sipping delicious drinks, or savoring the beauty of the cotton candy-colored sky.

Boomin’ June Recap 3 Jul 2014, 11:46 am

As we progress through the summer and welcome July, we reflect on all the good times we experienced at Beliveau Estate Winery in June 2014.

During the month of June, Beliveau Estate Winery was the destination for a wedding proposal and engagement, 4 wedding ceremonies and receptions, a bridal shower, entertaining Sunday Jazz performances, our 7th Annual Lavender Festival, dinner and wine pairings, corporate retreats, and peaceful afternoons.

Ladies Celebrating The Bride-to-Be with a Bridal Shower at Beliveau Estate Winery

June 1st, 8th, 22nd, & 29th  – Celie Holmes captivated us with her lovely voice and catchy jazz tunes. See her perform again during “Sundays with Celie” July 6th, 13th, and 20th from 3 to 5PM on the veranda at Beliveau Estate Winery. Nothing like picnicking with smooth jazz, divine wine, and gorgeous mountain views on a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

June 17th – Our own Kara Schmitt turned 21 and bought her first bottle of wine from Beliveau Estate Winery! Kara has been a member of the Beliveau Estate Winery Team for 3 years. She is a dedicated hard worker with a wide range of skillsets. Since joining us in 2011, she has helped cater events in the Beliveau Estate kitchen, served wines behind the wine bar, built brick walls, handled product shipments and Wine Club memberships, and worked in the vineyard where she currently plants grape vines… She has certainly earned that first bottle of wine.

June 21st – We served wines at Summer Solstice Fest in downtown Blacksburg

June 22nd – First Annual Dine with the Vines. Our own Chef Dell Peters collaborated with Executive Chef Michael Behmoiras of The Bank Food and Drink in Pearisburg to deliver a glorious multi-course gourmet dinner and wine pairing. Dinner guests indulged in delectable dishes from homemade sausage to honey-lavender panna cotta. This event is memorable, not only due to the delicious foods & wines, but the daunting black clouds that came over and washed us out! We thank our guests for being such good sports as they grabbed wine glasses and high-tailed it into the Great Hall with napkins on their heads and smiles on their faces. Luckily, the chefs were prepared for nasty weather; perfectly set tables were already awaiting in the Great Hall. Everyone repositioned themselves indoors and slid right into the next course. All around the room people were happily celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions. Although we’ll never forget the fun and gratification of our first Dine with the Vines experience, we are looking forward to round two next summer. Hope you’ll join us!

A Wonderful Wedding Celebration. Congratulations Emily & Josh! 28 Jun 2014, 4:38 pm

Following the wedding ceremony at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Emily and Josh’s friends and family came to Beliveau Estate Winery to celebrate the couple’s marriage during their wedding reception. Our winery guests couldn’t keep their eyes off Emily when she stepped out of the vehicle in her beautiful, flowing bridal gown.

The wedding party congregated in front of the lavender and lush Blue Ridge Mountains for photos, captured by Professional Photographer Laura Matney of Laura’s Focus Photography.

Newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Milas, Happily Posing with People They Love

DJ Joey Nicely of King’s Entertainment energetically introduced the wedding party as the bridesmaids and groomsmen entered the Great Hall. When Emily and Josh were announced as Mr. & Mrs. Milas, the room roared as guests cheered and applauded the couple’s entrance. The two shared their first dance as husband and wife as their friends and family happily cheered for them. Members of the wedding party took turns presenting speeches, telling stories, congratulating the couple, and wishing them well. It is clear that Emily and Josh have many people in their lives who care about them very much.

The Great Hall was dressed in wine corks and bottles, tiny mason jars filled with assorted candies, and colorful flowers and linens. The cake, crafted by Edibles Incredible in Reston, Virginia, looked delicious and elegant as it glistened in the sunlight. The letter M, to represent the couple’s last name, was sculpted from wine corks by the crafty, wine-loving bride herself. Also on the gift table was a wooden sign in the shape of  the state of Virginia and painted orange and maroon to show Hokie pride!

A Sunday Wedding. Congratulations Claire & Ryan! 18 Jun 2014, 2:14 pm

Claire and Ryan were wed at Beliveau Estate Winery on a sunny Sunday afternoon in June. The beautiful ceremony took place at the hilltop between the lush mountains and freshly-planted lavender. The wedding party looked sharp in shades of blue ranging from sapphire to aquamarine. When the processional began, the groomsmen escorted the five bridesmaids between rows of lavender on the hilltop. Claire looked radiant as she followed behind them in her gorgeous bridal gown. Her father escorted her to the altar, where Ryan awaited his bride. When Ryan and Claire were announced as husband and wife for the very first time, their friends and family cheered loudly in celebration of their union.

Claire, the lovely bride, ascending the hilltop to stand with Ryan, her groom.

After the ceremony, DJ Jamie Strassburg of King’s Entertainment got the crowd roaring as he introduced the bride, groom, and wedding party. Throughout the reception, he tailored the music to the mood of the room. Guests danced to everything from Frank Sinatra to Bob Marley. It is understandable why Jamie was selected by readers of City Magazine as the number 1 DJ in Southwest Virginia.

Professional Photographers Chelsea and Scott Anderson of Chelsea Anderson Photography captured the day’s special moments beautifully and artistically. This husband and wife duo worked together to tell a visual story of Claire and Ryan’s wedding day that will last a lifetime.

The wedding reception was a delightful celebration! Splashes of Queen Anne’s Lace and rustic twine accents complimented the pristine white linens and natural pine interior of the Great Hall. The unique bride and groom cake topper and delicate blue and violet flowers were elegant touches to the couple’s wedding cake.

We enjoyed serving Claire, Ryan, and their families and friends at the Bed & Breakfast, in the tasting room, at the tiki bar, and in the dining room. We were happy to receive a sleuth of heartwarming compliments that ensured we were doing our part in making the couple’s wedding day as special and perfect as possible.

Up on the Roof in June 6 Jun 2014, 11:41 am

Yesterday evening we served some tasty reds and refreshing whites to thirsty wine drinkers at Blacksburg’s monthly Up on the Roof event. White wine lovers enjoyed Lover’s Quest, our semi-sweet Vidal Blanc, and Mystique, our dry oaked Chardonnay. For those who preferred a splash of rouge in their glasses, we poured Silhouette, our dry, lighty oaked Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sweet Surrender, a sweet red table wine that many enjoy chilled. We were happy to share our wines with new faces, as well as those we recognized. Up on the Roof is always a fun way to enjoy local foods, music, beer, wine, and other spirits while overlooking the beautiful streets and mountains of Blacksburg, VA.

DJ Hurley‘s live mixing got the whole roof moving with popular songs by artists from Michael Jackson to Miley Cyrus. There was a little something in the mix for everyone. DJ Hurley can also be found mixing music at BT’s in Radford, Bull & Bones in Blacksburg, and other establishments and events throughout the New River and Roanoke Valleys.

We are lucky to have so many fabulous restaurants in Blacksburg who focus on serving delicious foods made from fresh and local ingredients. PK’s Bar & Grill dished up pastas, bread sticks, fresh veggies, and Key West Dip made from spinach and artichokes. Top of the Stairs made the carnivores very happy with slow-cooked Brisket in their special BBQ sauce with coleslaw and a dill pickle.

All beverages served at Up on the Roof are from  local or regional producers. Starr Hill Brewery from Crozet, VA, Devil’s Backbone from Roseland, VA, and Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill with locations in Blacksburg and Radford, filled cups with tasty brews. Dirty Karma Vodka shook things up with fruity cocktails. And we, Beliveau Estate Winery, were thrilled to bring our own libations to the party! Our wines were a big hit with new and seasoned wine drinkers alike. We enjoyed helping everyone find a favorite go-to for the evening.

Lindsey and Derek Serving Beliveau Estate Wine at Up on the Roof.

We have to admit that we were proud to have our tent next door to the lead sponsor of Up on the Roof: Crossfit Blacksburg. Carol Beliveau, Director of Operations for Crossfit Blacksburg and daughter-in-law to Joyce and Yvan Beliveau, was a fun and enthusiastic rooftop neighbor! Other sponsors included NRV Chapter of VT Alumni Association, Hooptie Ride, and FitNet.

After hours of dancing, mingling, nibbling, and sipping on the roof top, it was time to call it a night. The view of the sun sinking behind a distant mountain was a gorgeous sight and a perfect end to the evening.

Thanks to each of the 450+ folks who came to enjoy this event. We hope you’ll join us at the next one on June 26th at 5:30PM.

A May Wedding. Congratulations Kirsten & Thomas! 24 May 2014, 3:19 pm

Today we are honored to take part in celebrating the marriage of Kirsten and Thomas!

Professional Wedding Planner Brenda Taylor used her expertise to ensure proper staging and smooth transitions for the processional and recessional. Ten bridesmaids dressed in flowing green dresses floated down the aisle, bouquets in-hand.  Of course, Kirsten looked stunning when she emerged in her white bridal gown.  She was escorted down the aisle by her parents Anne and Billy Hite. Kirsten and Thomas were united at the altar, where the beautiful ceremony continued.

When the reception began in the Great Hall, DJ Mark Taylor, of Master Taylor Entertainment, got the guests moving, dancing, and having a great time! Burlap, elegant white flowers, and personalized signage were just some of the lovely decor that dressed the walls of the Great Hall during the wedding reception.
