Welcome to Smithfield Farm, our Winchester, Virginia area Bed and Breakfast
We invite you to visit our country inn nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the top of the Shenandoah Valley near Berryville, VA. Our family has received guests in the Manor House for 8 generations, reconnecting friends and family with farmland.
Our lodging accommodations are located just over an hour away from Washington DC with many charming towns you can visit on the way. You can plan an outing to a local winery, an historic site, a seasonal festival, or just a simple hike along the Blue Ridge on the Appalachian Trail. You could also spend the afternoon on our farm walking along our nature trail, reading a book in the hammock by the water garden, or having a picnic along the banks of our spring fed stream. The change of scenery and shift to a calm pace are sure to revive your spirit.
Breakfast at the farm is a special event each morning. In addition to our classic signature menus of products from the farm, we are constantly adding new and distinctive recipes that our family has enjoyed in our travels. We look forward to sharing them with you, our special guests.

At our Virginia country inn, you are welcome to make yourself at home. Whether you are here for a vacation or just a weekend getaway, we invite you to enjoy a good book with coffee or tea in the gazebo by the water garden. Drift off together in the hammock or go for a walk in the orchard to gather apples or bird watch along our nature trail. Our unique farm stay accommodations allow you to observe the farm animals in their natural state: cattle grazing contently in the meadow; pigs rooting to their hearts' content; goats and sheep napping in the warm sun; chickens scratching the fertile soil. Savor the majesty of a star-filled night sky and awaken in the morning to a hearty farm breakfast of nature's bounty from the fields surrounding you.

Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfast is a special place to be. The Inn Keepers Ruth and Betsy assisted by Linda are committed to making sure that it will be special for you. The manor house has been in Ruth's family nearly 200 years. It has welcomed guests, friends and family through most of its existence, and the present day Inn Keepers are anxious to welcome you.
The Bed & Breakfast is located in the Northern Shenandoah Valley, easily accessible from any direction. The Farm is 3 miles from a major highway, but that short drive transports you to a place of natural beauty and sereneness that only a pastoral setting can provide.
The Bed & Breakfast is a labor of love. For 11 years prior to its opening in 1999, Ruth and her late husband labored virtually every weekend to restore the beautiful main house and the out buildings and grounds to its present grandeur. Daughter Betsy helped whenever she could and Son Forrest, concentrated on building a viable and highly regarded grass fed meat operation on the working farm. -

Plan your Virginia vacation at Smithfield Farm ahead of time and consider some of the local opportunities for adventure and leisure. The Shenandoah Valley offers many outdoor and indoor activities.
