Built in the 'big house, little house' style unique to the Eastern Shore the three original sections date from about 1800, and feature heart pine floors, birds-eye-maple balusters, high ceilings and four working fireplaces. Additions in 1940, 1961, and 1972 continued the Eastern Shore style architecture until the house stretches over one hundred feet and has five roof levels.
Come visit and enjoy the magnificent views from our dock from sunrise to sunset. Bay View was a featured Rural Retreat in Rural Living magazine, a highlighted B & B accessible by water in Chesapeake Bay Magazine, and the subject of Home Suite Home Away from Home in the Norfolk Virginian Pilot.
A full breakfast is included in the room rate. Coffee or tea is ready on the sideboard whenever guests want it. Fill a mug and enjoy the morning on our porch, in our lawn chairs, or on the bench at the end of our dock. Breakfast is usually at 8:30, but we can accommodate earlier or later schedules. Breakfast starts with juice and fresh fruit. The main course may be an omelet, French toast, eggs Benedict, or a strata accompanied by bacon, ham or local sausage. There will be grits, rolls, biscuits, or muffins, and usually something seasonal from our garden or local farmers.
Bay View is a beautiful and comfortable place to spend your vacation with our pool, porch, dock, library, games, and comfortable home. You can wile away hours or days. Our yard slopes gently to the water and small boats can be launched here. We have plenty of room for boat parking.
If you want to explore the Eastern Shore, many area attractions are easily accessible. We will equip you with a detailed map and the Eastern Shore guide book, as well as recommend restaurants and "must see" places.
