  • Insider Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Carolyn for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Because of it's remoteness from cities, nearby houses, automobile noise, and stresses of everyday work. It is quiet and they are able to see nature and nature's sound from the deck of the cottage. Plus there are a lot of local wineries, breweries, orchards, and lakes nearby.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

My inn is unique due to the fact that it is the only one on a 243 acre wooded mountain surrounded by the GW National Forest and the owner's house is not visible. Most guest rave about my homemade bread and jam/jelly. I love looking at the pastoral view from the cottage's deck.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    To enjoy the mountains.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

How we treat them like family. How clean and well equipped the cottage is. That the cottage was more than they expected and the views even better than what my website portrayed.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The rural beauty and friendly people.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

Visit the nearby mill (Woodson's Mill) and watch grain being ground. The nearby historic sites of Appomattox, Poplar Forest, and Monticello.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

Hiking trails and mountain vistas and our fish stocked pond.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    Vito's and Lovingston Inn.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

Each winery and brewery have their own website.

How many rooms does your inn have?

Two rooms but the entire cottage is rented and not the rooms.

    Do you accept pets?

No.  There are a few alternatives in the area.
