  • Introduction

Grunberg Haus Bed & Breakfast and Cabins front of innThis picture-postcard Austrian style bed and breakfast in Waterbury, Vermont is hidden away on a quiet hillside in the Green Mountains, secluded among hundreds of acres of pine and hardwood forest.

Willkommen! Grunberg Haus is miles away and worlds apart from the bustle of daily life.

Our tyrolean style chalet was built by George and Irene Ballschneider who picked out and carried home each stone in the fireplace and hauled lumber to the building site with a snowmobile.

The large, beamed living room features a giant field stone fireplace and a wall of windows overlooking brilliant foliage, knee-deep snow and forested valleys.

Our BYOB Austrian tavern features hand-stenciled booths perfect for a game of backgammon or checkers, or curl up with with a book in front of the stone fireplace in the living room.

Enjoy our forest hiking and snowshoeing trails, plus our perennial and rock garden deck.

Our guests are friends who enjoy the special concern, spontaneity and personal attention that are essential elements of our home. Hearty, creative homemade breakfasts are only the beginning. Our breakfasts are full and memorable and feature homemade breads, hearty entrees and fresh fruit creations, served overlooking the mountains. We've decorated the guestrooms with an emphasis on coziness, comfort and charm using antique furniture, comforters and quilts.

Our inn is an ideal size for wedding events of 30 or fewer people.

Whether you dream of a ceremony for just the two of you or with a small group of family and friends in front of our stone fireplace, at a clearing in our forest, on the garden deck with curious hummingbirds zipping in for a look, we will help you each step of the way.

We have been fortunate to host hundreds of weddings. Please contact us to get started and we would be very happy to discuss what you are dreaming of. Most of our wedding clients have found a perfect spot here at our facility but we have also helped other couples with ceremonies in front of a waterfall, on a lake shore at sunset, in the gazebo at the town park, and we've helped with a dove release and other special requests.

We would be happy to host your ceremony whether you purchase the package or not. Just give us a call or email to discuss what works best for you.
