A Mile of Smiles…We’re Walking… 23 Apr 2012, 10:38 am
Now that the good weather is making regular appearances, it’s time to get out and do a little exploring on foot.
You might be surprised to discover all there is do just stepping out the Inn’s front door. Here are a few of our favorite destinations within one easily-walkable mile of our front porch. As a bonus, walking provides great exercise, perhaps a dose a vitamin D, and uses no fossil fuels. Fear not, our porch, pool, and pub will all be here ready to welcome you home afterward! So will we, Frank, Julie and Kevin, and of course, Chai.
Discover the unique history of fly fishing, part of our local heritage, at the American Museum of Fly Fishing – .1 mile
Feast your eyes on international and local masterpieces at Southern Vermont Art Center - .6 mile

Hungry? You’ll find something for everyone in your group right across the street at Mulligan’s Restaurant & Sports Bar – .000001 mile
Plus, delectable gourmet fare awaits nearby at The Silver Fork - .2 mile
These are just a few of the things you’ll pass by, and only within a mile. We leave you to discover some of the others.

We enjoy looking back at where the inn has come in the nine years (Yes, nine! can you believe it!) since we’ve been here. Here’s a glimpse of just a few of the transformations.

Our Night to Remember 29 Nov 2011, 3:56 am
What a wonderful time we had at The Woodstock Inn. We were honored and flattered to have been selected by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce as the B&B Innkeepers of the Year. It was wonderful to celebrate with our top-knotch team: Kevin, Aidie and Virgil – and their significant others. You were right there with us too – without you, treasured guests and friends, The Inn at Manchester wouldn’t be what it is today.
The event and the award has us fired up to keep doing what we’re doing – creating an inn in southern Vermont that people want to return to again and again. And as always, we will keep trying to do it even better.
Thank you to all of our guests and friends for allowing us to be this fortunate.
Here are some photos from the night.
You’re making us blush. Really. 21 Oct 2011, 6:19 am
Some of you have already heard the news so we’re going to come right out and say it: Yes, we’ve been named B&B Innkeepers of the Year by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce.
What an incredible honor. And surprise. The best part about receiving this unexpected acknowledgement is that it reinforces that everyone here is on the right track. Because the truth is no matter how much Julie and I love welcoming you and creating a place you want to come back to, we couldn’t do it without Kevin, Adie and Virgil. They understand, and take seriously, the Inn at Manchester’s goal of providing you with the best possible experience when you visit. Every time you visit. Evan Chai does her part!
You, our guests and friends, are also un-named recipients of this award. We can’t tell you what it means that so many of you share your precious time with us here at the inn. Once you walk through our doors you’re part of the Inn at Manchester family and you inspire us to want to make your next visit even more memorable.
So thank you. Thank you for your friendship and support.
(There’s a Manchester Journal piece in this week’s paper. We’ll all be receiving the award officially on November 15th…at the Vermont Chamber’s Hospitality Gala in Woodstock. We’ll share some photos of the event.)

Never a disappointment. 10 Oct 2011, 4:58 am
Every year we hear the same arguments.
“It’s going to be late.”
“I bet it comes early!”
“It’s too yellow!”
“It’s too brown!”
“It’s better after a dry summer!”
“Noooo, it’s best after a wet summer!”
And every year we learn that it doesn’t matter. It always arrives and it never disappoints.
It’s here now and we hope you are too!
The photo above was taken October 9th and this video was shot on October 10th by a local friend. There’s still lots of autumn to fall!

New for Fall: Silver Fork Restaurant 22 Sep 2011, 6:56 am
Manchester has a new restaurant to love. Julie and I have dined at Mark and Melody French’s new Silver Fork restaurant which recently opened just down the road. You can walk there from the inn – and you will want to! Everything about this little treasure of a restaurant is wonderful.
You’ll enjoy an intimate fine dining experience at one of six tables. That’s right, six tables; you’re going to want to make reservations – especially during the upcoming foliage season. A couple of the menu selections that I really enjoyed were the Oriental Seared Rare Tuna appetizer and the Medallion of Tenderloin with Sauteed Shrimp entrée. Julie was wild about the Caramelized Smoked Salmon and Mango and the Pan Seared Fillet of Cod. It’s really an exceptional restaurant.
If you would like us to make reservations for your upcoming visit – just let us know! We’re gad to take care of that for you.
