Innkeeper(s): Bill Vines & Mary Furlong

Room 1

Sit back in the comfortable teal leather rocking chair in Room 1 and relax. You have found a place to enjoy a quiet get away from a busy world.

In furnishing Room 1, Mary and Bill have chosen a Mission decor. Room 1 includes a comfortable Queen Sized bed, teal rocking chair, a huge chest of drawers and matching side tables. Pictures complementing the furniture include a painting of a Vermont farmstead, and a field of Vermont cows in moonlight.

Like all rooms at Birch Ridge, Room 1 includes a private bath, television, and telephone and WiFi internet access. But instead of watching television, we think you will enjoy the rocking chair all by itself.

Room 2

A touch of class is always enjoyable, especially when it is Crystal and Lace.

Room 2 at Birch Ridge is furnished with an Antique Lace decor and Crystal accessories. A Queen sized bed with a carved rosette headboard greets you upon your arrival.

The antique lace room also features a pastel patterned love seat for relaxing. In keeping with the decor of a Vermont Inn, Mary and Bill have tried to eliminate the intrusion of televisions in decorating the rooms. In Room 2 you will find the television behind antique lace curtains in a hutch. If you do not want television in your Vermont vacation, you will not even know it is there. (But you also have the option of turning on the Weather Channel® before getting dressed to enjoy the Vermont countryside.)

Like all rooms at Birch Ridge, Room 2, in addition to a television, also includes a private bath, telephone and WiFi internet access.

Room 3

Traditional Shaker style is used to decorate Room 3 at Birch Ridge.

Upon arriving to Room 3 you will find a Queen sized bed with spindle post headboard made from Cherry. To add a touch of class, a Cherry Armoire is used as the closet. Cherry night stands and a matching mirrored bureau are also used to complement the room decor in the Shaker room. For enjoying a good book and quiet sitting in the room, a Spindle Rocking Chair is provided.

Like all rooms at Birch Ridge, Room 3, includes WiFi internet access, a telephone and television and private bath.

To discretely hide the TV from view while it is not being watched, Mary found a unique addition to Room 3, a Colonial Doll House.

To view the television (to watch the Weather channel of course during your stay) the front of the doll house swings up to reveal a 19 inch television. When not in use, the front of the Doll House is moved down to conceal the television from view. We felt that this was a unique way to offer the best of both worlds.

Room 4

New England decor has always focused on furniture made from local woods. Besides the Maple Syrup we all enjoy, furniture made from Maple has a rich hue that is just right for a New England inn.

Room 4 at Birch Ridge is furnished in a Colonial style with brass "candlestick" lamps and oriental accessories. A Queen sized Maple spindle bed sets the decor for the room.

To compliment the spindle bed, Mary and Bill had a local Vermont woodcrafter make a Maple Armoire for Room 4, instead of a traditional clothes closet. Armoires were originally used in country homes in New England to avoid British taxation. In colonial times, building taxes were often based upon the number of "dressing rooms" in the house. "Dressing Rooms" were identified by the tax collectors as rooms containing clothes closets. To avoid the tax, many colonial homes were built without clothes closets, the residents instead choosing to use large chests, or "Armoires" to store clothing.

In addition to the Armoire, you will also find a comfortable spindle rocker and several oriental prints to complement room 4's decor.

Like all rooms at Birch Ridge, Room 4 includes WiFi internet access, a private bath, television and telephone.
