Our one of a kind pristine Vermont inn sits on seven secluded acres of peaceful tranquility with a scenic view of Lake Salem. Breathe "Inn" the clean, fresh air of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
We are located in the lovely town of Derby, Vermont - the "Crown Jewel" of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
Your innkeepers and hosts, Mo and Joe provide you with ambiance, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality. Mo loves to cook and is the chef at the inn. She also has a home baking license, teaches dance class at the elementary school, is a Nationally Certified Water Fit Instructor, is Certified in Senior Fitness, and an amateur photographer (photos available for sale). She volunteers at a local senior center, the American Cancer Society and the Association for the Blind. Even though Joe is retired, he stays very busy maintaining the beautiful grounds of the inn. He has over 50 years experience owning a successful residential/commercial landscape business. He also owned a 4-star Italian Restaurant in the Philadelphia area and a Bakery. He has been a Volunteer Fireman for over 55 years and serves on the Planning Commission and the Zoning Boards.
A full breakfast may include one of the following, Croissant topped with Joe's fluffy herbed eggs; Puffed Eggs served with homemade semolina bread and fresh fruit; Homemade Cinnamon Raisin-Walnut French Toast; Spiced Buttermilk Pancakes topped with apples, raisins and walnuts simmered in brown sugar, butter and cinnamon; New England Spiced Pumpkin Bread. All entree's are served with fresh juice, freshly ground coffee and a variety of teas.

We are the only inn that serves dinner and gives our guests free use of a kayak or canoe on our lake.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?
We are best known for being on the lake and our food and dinners. We are also known for our personality. We are very unique, not a typical countryish or victorian inn.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?
Great food and dinner available. Peace. Hiking. Relaxing. Skiing.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?
"Feels like home. Where guests are treated like family. Delicious food."
What’s the best kept secret about the area?
We are 5 miles from the Canadian Border. Guests can drive 20 minutes to visit St. Benoit du Lac...an abbey where they can hear Gregorian Chants on the week days.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?
Those staying longer than a weekend can enjoy many things. Hike, bike, swim, canoe, kayak, fish, visit the Old Stone House Museum, take a ride to Canada. Montreal is 1 1/5 hours away. Ski, cross country ski with groomed trails, snow shoe, visit the Haskell Opera House situated 1/2 in the US and the other 1/2 in Canada, see a show at the Haskell, Spend the day in Magog, Canada where they have over 100 restaurants and unique shops. Visit Ben & Jerry's ..a 1 1/2 hour drive.

Four Season Activities
Spring & Summer
You are steps away from our boat dock. We have a
canoe or kayak for guests to use. Swimming in our lake is very refreshing!
Relax on the back deck while sipping a cool beverage, and enjoying a light snack.
For the fisherman, Lake Salem is one of the cleanest lakes in Vermont. Our lake has pickerel, walleye, fresh water salmon, bass, lake trout........in winter, the ice fishing is fabulous. Ask us about license requirements.
Hiking is best in the Northeast Kingdom. Lake Willoughby State Forest has over 12 miles of hiking trails. We are also within easy driving distance to the Long Trail, part of the Appalachian Trail system. Take a picnic lunch and spend the day on the mountain!

Mount Pisgah at Lake Willoughby is near the Quebec border and is one of New England’s best ice climbing venues. The big west-facing cliff, towering above the frozen lake, offers the largest concentration of hard routes in the Northeast from single pitch to committing multi-pitch climbs.
In the winter enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Ski and snow shoe rentals are available at the Vermont Leadership Center. Great down-hill skiing and snow boarding is available at nearby Jay Peak and Burke Mountain.
We are located directly on well-groomed VAST Trails. There is plenty of room to park your trailer. Look for specials.
We have many restaurants from fast food to fine dining. Also, for great shopping and gourmet restaurants, we are 4 miles from the Canadian Border, 2 1/2 hour drive to Quebec City, 25 minutes from from the European town of Magog, 40 miles from St. Benoit bu Lac Monastery.
The fabulous Montreal Casino is just a 1.5 hours drive away.
Visit the nearby Coaticook Gorge in Canada which is famous for the longest suspension bridge in the world!
