  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Sue Small for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Most travelers stay with us because they have read our great reviews. They also say they like the look of our website and our inn.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

We are known for our hospitality and our delicious food. We try to provide healthy breakfast choices sourced from local farmers whenever possible. We have our own extensive berry patches and apple orchard, so in season, our guests fresh-picked fruits in the morning. Our inn is unique for various reasons; luxury bedding, gourmet food and a quiet country setting all within 5-10 minutes from some of the best restaurants in our county. Plus our town of Bristol is very unique. It has a funky combination of artists, buddhists, farmers and mountain men all in one town. What I love most about our inn is the ambience. We love to sit with our guests after breakfast and just talk. Our guests are so stimulating to talk to and I always walk away from those conversations feeling like I've made some new friends.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

Come for the food and stay for the recreation or just kick back and enjoy our genuine small-town-America vibe.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

People stay with us often when there is something momentous happening in their lives, like a wedding, a proposal or a spiritual quest. When they tell me that I was an integral part of making that event successful, I feel like I have gone beyond the role of innkeeper. I feel like I am part of their story forever.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

Our 4th of July Parade which is just wild and silly and fun and our magnificent swimming hole under the crystal clear waters of Bartlett Falls.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

I would send them to the Shelburne Museum, to the Farmers Markets in the area, for a hike up to Deerleap or a swim under Bartlett Falls. I would make sure they sampled our excellent restaurants and I would send them on scenic drives. We are quite close to Burlington if they want to do a little shopping, as well.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

We are just a 15 minutes walk into the village of Bristol, where there are great shops, an art gallery, a microbrewery, 2 great cafe/bakeries and an artisanal ice cream shop.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

We love to dine at Tourterelle when we are in the mood for some upscale French food and Mary's Restaurant is great for locally-sourced dishes, too.
