Here's where you will find the charm of a small country inn with the conveniences of a larger hotel. All of our twenty-five individually decorated rooms and suites include beds adorned with handmade quilts, antique furnishings, private baths, cable TV, wireless internet access, and most importantly a friendly staff who will make you feel at home. A full country breakfast is always included in your stay. Other amenities can include Vermont firestoves, balconies, and private outdoor hot tubs.
The Black Bear is Vermont's only slopeside country inn, with direct access in the winter to Bolton Valley Resort's trails (typically begining Jan. 1). Discount lift tickets are always available for purchase at our front desk.

Policies
- We offer discounts for current Military personnel with identification. We appreciate your service! Unfortunately the Inn is not able to offer discounted rates to AAA members, however.
- Stays are based on double occupancy, and include full country breakfast each morning but not 9% Vermont tax, or 15% service charge. An extra person charge of $15 applies for rooms with more than two people.
- Dinner Service at the Inn is available most evenings, except Sundays, in our restaurant. If you have not made a reservation with us for dinner on the night of your arrival and you wish to do so you must contact the Innkeepers by 12:00 that day. Our Chef prepares only enough food for the guests that we know we are serving in order to keep waste to a minimum.
- The Innkeepers are out of the Inn from late morning until 3:30 p.m.; after 3:30, they are happy to welcome their guests.
- Late arrivals can easily be accommodated; whenever possible, please make the innkeepers aware of arrivals later then 9:00 p.m.
- Deposits of 1 night for stays of 1 to 3 nights, 2 nights for stays of 4 to 6 nights and 1/2 the number of nights for stays of 7 nights or longer will be taken at the time of reservation. Online reservations will be asked to pay half of their stay before tax and service charge.
- For all Hot-tub rooms there is a 2 night minimum on the weekends. Either a Thursday-Friday, Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday.
- Minimum stays may be required at different times during the year. Please ask the innkeepers for details.
- The Inn reserves the right to move a confirmed guest to another room of equal or greater value, to facilitate the taking of other reservations.
- Cancellation Policy
- Your credit card which is on file will act as your guarantee. Should the need to cancel your reservation arise, a $25.00 processing cancellation fee will be imposed, if cancelled 21 days prior to date of arrival. If you cancel within the 21 days (30 for Fall foliage and holidays) to your arrival date, you will be charged for the full number of days reserved (minus meals). We will of course not charge for any nights that we are able to resell, though there will be the $25 processing fee.
- Leaving before your reserved date will be treated as a cancellation and you will be charged for the night(s) that we are unable to resell.
- Although our town road crew does a fine job keeping our road clear in the winter, unexpected snowfalls are a common occurance on our mountain. While snowtires or four-wheel drive are not required for visiting the inn, we have found that vehicles without at least one of these have more troubles than others during a snowstorm. Of course, our staff will make every effort that they can should a guest have difficulty. Please understand that unexpected snowstorms are not reasons to not abide by our cancellation policy.
