Readmore Bed & Breakfast - Bellows Falls, Vermont

We welcome you to our 'Green Hotel'! Our Historic Colonial Revival is a perfect destination for your romantic getaway. Set in the lovely village of Bellows Falls, Vermont, our home is comfortable, elegant, and a designated Green Hotel by the State of Vermont, as well as a member of the Vermont Fresh Network of local farmers and consumers.

Getting here is easy, but leaving may be more difficult! Start the day with a full gourmet breakfast, made the way you like it. Come stroll through our gardens, relax in our gazebo or on the front porch. Sample the afternoon tea offerings. On chilly days, cuddle up by the fire with a book, or play a game of backgammon. Each of our rooms has books for sale according to theme, and we specialize in cookbooks, gardening, poetry, history, and railroads. Later, dinner at a local restaurant, and most of the rooms have fireplaces and whirlpools for your relaxation afterwards.

The house is on the National Register and was named one of the ten prettiest country homes in America by the Ladies Home Journal in 1899! It was also featured on Bob Vila's 'Restore America', and the Spring 2002 issue of Vermont Magazine.

Garden RoomWe hope your stay with us is relaxing and pleasurable. Enjoy the comfort of our various public rooms. Our Great Hall with its impressive three-story atrium is a unique architectural feature. Relax by the fire, or wander into one of the original twin parlors. We have turned the men's parlor into a library, a place to cuddle up on a chilly Vermont night with a book and a crackling fire. The ladies' parlor is a perfect spot to relax in the morning, its subtle light inspires a calm start to he day. Do you play the piano? Across the Hall is our little game room where you can try your hand at the traditional backgammon, chess, cribbage, mancala, or the more contemporary Clue or Monopoly.

In the summer, our rose garden is a popular lingering spot; we have over 50 types of roses, mostly antique, for you to enjoy. Relax on our massive, wrap-around front porch, rockers and white wicker await. Or, spend a leisurely rest in our gazebo which sits under a massive 200-year-old sugar maple tree with a 92-foot wing span!

Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30. Coffee is available at 7:30 for early risers, but if you need to eat a bit earlier let us know in advance. Also, please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. We can accommodate any special need from vegan to Atkins. In general, we support our local farmers and use organic foods whenever possible.

The milk, eggs, butter, and cheese is almost always organic, and our maple syrup comes from our friend's sugar house just down the road. Our cereals and baking products are also organic. Even our bacon is nitrite free and comes from pigs that were raised with no antibiotics. We can direct you to sources for some of the best cheese in the world, and this is no exaggeration.

Our rooms are elegant and comfortable, and each one has a view of a garden! We want your stay here to be a special experience, and we provide robes, turndown service, televisions, air conditioning, cd players, and radios. Our beds are all made with a soft featherbed, lots of pillows, and in the winter our down comforters and quilts will keep you warm. Most rooms have a fireplace, and whirlpool bath.
