    The Iron Gate Inn is the oldest Bed & Breakfast building in the Cedar City community. Built in 1897 and completely renovated, it now provides ten comfortable and uniquely decorated bedrooms, each with private bath, including a one-bedroom cottage and a two-bed/two-bath carriage house for a more private experience.

    Antiques abound, but comfort is not forsaken. Each spacious room has queen or king-sized, pillow-top mattresses, a seating area and its own bathroom with large showers and/or tubs.

    Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

    The Iron Gate Inn is centrally located in the heart of Cedar City, and just down the street from the SUU campus, the home of the Famous Shakespeare Festival. We are also located within a reasonable distance to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks National Parks, as well as the Brian Head Ski Resort. The Iron Gate Inn property is the home of the first winery and tasting room in Utah, and offers a quiet setting of beautiful garden surroundings and is uniquely decorated without being too frilly and cluttered. The owners of the inn are health conscious and offer alternatives to those with dietary restrictions such as gluten Free, lactose free, vegan and vegetarian options. Our menus include organic fruits and vegetables, unprocessed or bleached flours, sugars, nutritionally alternative oils as coconut and avocado and other ingredients when available.

    If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    Most people traveling to Cedar City are here to visit the 5 beautiful National Parks here in the area.

    What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

    The best compliment I received was a complaint that I raised the bar for other inns so high in my hospitality and personal service, that my guests told me that they may never stay at any other inn.

    What’s the best kept secret about the area?

    Cedar City is a wonderful city, with great friendly people and beauty surrounding the entire city.

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    Every visitor to our area must see Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, and in the festival season one or two play at the Shakespeare theaters.

    Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

    Two of the best places to eat in town are in walking distance. Centro Pizza is a eclectic restaurant with stone fired pizza, great salads and a upbeat fun atmosphere. The Depot Grill, at the old train station is the finest continental cuisine in the area, complete with a bar for sports atheistic.

    Our Inn has 7 beautiful rooms all with private baths.

    Do you accept pets?

    On occasion we will accept certain pets. For those that do not meet our approval, Red Rover Retreat Dog Boarding and Grooming is great for our furry friends.

  • The Winery

    The Iron Gate Inn & Winery, Utah

    The Iron Gate Inn is proud to offer to our guests, our community and visitors, Southern Utah's only winery and tasting room that is located on site for a delicious complement to your Cedar City experience.

    Winemaker and winery owner, Doug McCombs, brings his penchant for fine wines with unique blends of rich varietals. Join us for a sampling of these handcrafted wines in the tasting room and garden where you can relax in comfort. You can also enjoy educational tours of the wine production area and purchase bottles of your favorites.

    Current varieties include: Dry Riesling, Off Dry Riesling, Reserve Chardonay, Roussanne, Syrah, Tempest (red blend), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, and Late Harvest Zinfandel (dessert wine).

    The winery tasting room hours are by appointment during the winter, but will be expanding to a daily schedule in late spring. Just give us a call at the inn to set an appointment if you would like to taste these fabulous wines while you are staying in Cedar City or on your way through.

  • Breakfast

    The Iron Gate Inn and  Winery - BreakfastA full gourmet breakfast is served beginning at 8:15 am in the dining room. The summer months provide beautiful weather for dining outdoors on the patio where there is ample seating.

    Menus change daily, but always include a homemade entrée such as:

    • Quiche
    • Stratas
    • Baked french toast
    • Fresh fruits
    • Breakfast meats (on the side or included in the entrée)
    • Yummy baked treats
    • Juices
    • Coffee and tea

    If you have food allergies/restrictions that prevent you from eating certain foods, we will try to accommodate you if we are notified 48 hours before you arrive. We cannot make last minute changes to our menus.

    Our delectable breakfast recipes are featured in two cookbooks complied by the Cedar City Area Bed and Breakfast Association. Cookbooks can be purchased at the inn or by calling The Iron Gate Inn B&B at (435) 867-0603.

    Weddings or Special Events at the Iron Gate Inn and WineryPlanning a special event? We rent the entire property for retreats, leadership training and conferences, weddings, receptions or family reunions.

    The Iron Gate Inn is perfect for family reunions and corporate or church retreats with comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to 26 people. The grounds and meeting space are available for group time, yet the property is spacious enough to allow room for solitude and relaxation.

    If you are preparing for a reception or wedding, The Iron Gate Inn's gardens are the perfect venue. And, we can help you with coordinating all of the details including, catering, specialty cakes and desserts, and floral arrangements! The lawn area can accommodate up to 150 people for a reception, and wedding-style seating for approximately 100. Inquire about rates.
