From the sound of gentle breezes rustling the leaves to the breathtaking views, The Lodges at Lost Maples is truly the ultimate hill country experience. The Lodges are located on RR337 between Vanderpool and Leakey in an area known as the "Swiss Alps of Texas". The rugged terrain, high elevations and winding roads have brought this stretch of RR337 notoriety as one of the most popular scenic highways of Texas. The tall, dense, mature stands of Ashe juniper mixed with Texas Oaks and Lacey Oaks along the steep-sided canyons are excellent habitat for many birds, such as the rare Golden Cheeked Warbler, Black-Capped Vireo and Green King Fischer.

My family and I stayed in the Red Rooster cabin at the Lodges the week of June 17th. We had a wonderful time! The cabins are very homey with a lot of attention to details. The beds are comfortable with lots of pillows and blankets, books and old VCR tapes are in the cabin, the kitchen has a coffee maker & microwave, pretty much everything you need to feel right at home. Our favorite thing about the cabin is the back porch! There are several cushioned chairs where you can sit and watch the birds. Be sure to fill up the bird feeder with the seeds from the kitchen. There is a huge glass jar of seeds for your use. Because there are so few cabins, you feel like you are the only ones there even when the other cabins are occupied. Also, my husband and son took several naps in the hammock.Breakfast is part of the package and is absolutely delicious. The blueberry muffins are definitely the best I've ever had anywhere!
This was our second time staying at the Lodges, and we can't wait to come back again!

If you wan't to be away from the rat race of city life, this is the place for you. The cabins are clean and comfortable. The view is gorgeous. Perhaps because of the nearness to RR 337, there wasn't much sign of wildlife. Bring your own food.... you are in the middle of nowhere.I found the experience enjoyable and will return.

We drove 330 miles looking forward to our two days mini vacation. Let me start by telling you that there are no wild life of anything. The place is not on a mountain and it is within 100 feet of the major road. We were promised breakfast every morning at 9, no one came. We did not have enough towels and there is no shower in the cabin only a bath tub that you need buckets to take a bath. No one checked on us to make sure everything was O.K. I do not understand how can anyone give them a good review except if they were family members and friends.
