The Cabin on Blueberry Hill

From $149.00 / night

Secluded in the pristine beauty of the Big Thicket area, the Historic Blueberry Hill cabin offers a unique opportunity to experience nature and history first-hand. Enjoy the cozy, rustic charm of your own private cabin with the benefits of a B&B.

Blueberry Hill History

Built in the early 1900's as a double log crib-barn, this cabin is one of the oldest structures on the Farm. Throughout the years it has been used to house our cows, sheep, horses, and one try at raising chickens. The chickens were penned in the area that is now the bath. What is now the snack kitchen was once used as a smoke-house. In those days, there were no wooden floors in these sections or in the dog-run down the middle of the crib-barn. When we noticed that some of the logs were rotting and needed to be replaced, we found a man that knew how to jack up a log structure, and the renovation began. The Cabin on Blueberry Hill was born in 2003.

The Cabin at Deer Run

From $149.00 / night

The rustic cabin on Deer Run includes breakfast at the Lodge, and the enjoyable seclusion of your own private cabin - a cabin with a very unique history. It all began in 2008 when Hurricane Ike roared through the woods, and damaged many trees. We found a man from Georgia who owned a portable sawmill. He hauled it to The Farm, and milled the downed trees into the lumber that built this cabin.

After being furnished with antiques, collectibles, deer hides and antlers, the cabin on Deer Run was ready for guests in September of 2009.

The Cabin on Deer Run is a fun, rustic retreat that includes all the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable. After a hike or canoe trip, it's a real treat to shower under the stars in your own private outdoor shower, or relax on the enclosed sun deck attached to the cabin. In the evening, you can sit on the front porch swing, and watch for deer that sometimes feed just 50 feet away in the Mayhaw orchard.

Breakfast and More

Many folks in Texas have fond memories of hiking along creek banks in the back woods to hunt the Mayhaw berry. We would seine them, or throw a sheet down under a tree to collect the berries. Sometimes we had to fight the snakes for the reward! A favorite in the south, Mayhaw jelly is always served for breakfast here at Ethridge Farm.

Country Breakfast

Your stay includes a real Texas home-cooked country breakfast served each morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Lodge dining room. You'll want to sample the variety of delicious selections available, including homemade Mayhaw jelly and fresh fruits in season.

Dinner

For an additional charge, you might also like to dine with us for a country dinner served in the Lodge dining room, or we can bring a romantic candlelight dinner directly to your cabin.

Please see our Meals and Amenities section for menus and more information.

Enjoy The Country Life

You might like to take a stroll on our grounds, or enjoy a romantic picnic by the pond. Be sure to experience the fun of fishing, or picking your own fruit in season. Just part of country life! We like to give you a bag of fruit, which you have picked, as a memory of your visit to The Farm. Fruits may include Blueberries, Mayhaws, Pears, Muscadines, Satsumas, Lemons, Persimmons and Kumquats.
