  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Betty Murphy for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Most people stay here at Willow Ridge Retreat because we are out in the country and have fantastic dark skies. We can still see the Milky Way.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

We have delicious, homemade breakfast breads, entertaining goats, and nice walking trails. WE love the country setting and enjoy getting to know our guests if they so desire. Many are repeat visitors.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

We have a first class museum dedicated to the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Fredericksburg was the home of Admiral Nimitz who commanded the Pacific Fleet.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

People tell us how much they have enjoyed their stay and that they will recommend it to their friends.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

Our best kept secret is our famous cat named Harry Potter. He usually greets all guests and enjoys walking them around the trails. I get letters offering to drive over and adopt him anytime we are willing to let him go.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

We have a local Visitor's guide with lots of things to see and do. Each guest is given one which includes an area map. I ask what kind of things people want to do, then make recommendations accordingly.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

Only our trails are within walking distance, but, if guests bring bikes, I map out scenic roads for them to bike on.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

My personal favorite restaurant is Rathskellers where I always order the "Lois" which is a grilled salmon served over fresh veggies including spinach with a vinagar-peppercorn dressing.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

We have several guides available for guest information.

How many rooms does your inn have?

We have only 1 large suite complete with a coffee bar and a private patio equipped with chase lounges for star gazing.

    Do you accept pets?

There are several pet kennels including Paws and Claws Pet Resort nearby in Fredericksburg.
