On Main Street, in the heart of the Fredericksburg National Historic District in Texas, sits the Schandua Suite in the upper floor of the Schandua Building, a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark built in 1897 with native limestone. Two unique shops inhabit the downstairs portion of the building: Haberdashery and James Avery Jewelry.
Several shops, restaurants and museums are within walking distance of the bed and breakfast. When you stay at Schandua Suite, you will park in a private, off-street space and enter through a secluded courtyard. The spacious bedroom includes a cable television, walk-in closet, and a seating area. The library in the second room of the suite features a complete Pullman kitchen, a floor-to-ceiling library, breakfast area, and a sleeper sofa. Fresh flowers will be displayed in each room, complimentary hors d'oeuvres are available at your arrival, and a Continental Plus breakfast featuring fresh baked German pastries will be served each morning.
Built in 1897 on an original townlot deeded by the German Emigration Company, The Schandua Building, made of hand-hewn native limestone, is one of the most recognizable landmark buildings on Main Street in Fredericksburg, Texas. This important property has been designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and stands within the Fredericksburg National Historic District.
For several generations the upstairs rooms served as a residence for the family who operated a hardware store downstairs. Today, The Schandua Suite occupies a portion of the original upstairs residence.
