  • Introduction

Welcome to the Rocking MJ Ranch Bed & Breakfast! This charming and relaxing get-away is located between Austin and San Antonio and is surrounded by the gorgeous Texas Hill Country.

The Rocking MJ Ranch Bed and Breakfast owners Moe and Jo Schwab are the fourth generation of the Jonas/Schwab family to own this picturesque ranch. An adorable cabin awaits you, tucked amidst live oak trees that have stood for generations on this 200-acre ranch.

The newly-built bed and breakfast is half a mile from Canyon Lake and 2 miles from the crystal blue waters of the Guadalupe River. Join us for a relaxing and secluded retreat.

    History

The ranch was once home to a family who "sharecropped" cedar as rent to live on the Rocking MJ. Some of the porch posts came from trees that surrounded the dirt-floor "lean to" of the cedar chopper family. The most dynamic feature of the Rocking MJ's 200-acres of steppe-like limestone and caliche uplifts is the 1000-foot Mount Baldy (or old Baldy), about 1/2 mile from the bed and breakfast. Mount Baldy provides spectacular views of Canyon Lake and the surrounding Hill Country.

"My husband and I just spent the weekend at the Rockin' MJ Ranch in Canyon Lake, Texas. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay that is just a short drive from many area attractions, this is the place for you."  -- Trish Kolaski, Pearland, TX

"The B & B is meticulously maintained, and the ranch is so pretty. We really enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts, climbing Old Baldy, and seeing the deer, goats and donkeys. We will definitely stay here next time we are in the New Braunsfels/Gruene area."  -- Corpus Christi, TX

"This is the second time my friends and I have stayed at the Rocking MJ... Ms. Jo is one of the sweetest ladies to ever open up a B&B and her hospitality is one of a kind! From the fresh baked zucchini bread and cinnamon rolls, to the rolling beautiful hills on the property, to the longhorn/goats/white-tailed deer and more, this B&B is the best!"  -- Dallas, TX

"My husband and I recently stayed at Moe and Jo's Rocking MJ Ranch. It was wonderful so are the hosts! I highly recommend this B&B. The hospitality is great, the setting is peaceful and serene. We loved sitting on the front porch, drinking our coffee watching the deer and the goats, and at nights listening to nature and staring at the stars. We plan to book again soon!"
